This goof is accustomed to being hauled inside to nurse babies…so of course, when I left her kits in her cage all night and all day and all evening, she didn’t feed them. :? So I think, “Okay, I’ll do the normal routine.”

I gathered the kits from her cage, all the while trying to push Pyrite away because I can’t carry them AND her at the same time. Come back for her and she’s desperate to get into my arms. Totally freaking out and almost toppled out of the cage a few times while I was trying to get a hold of her. Finally get her inside, plop her and the kits on the bed…and nothing. Her kits wouldn’t nurse. Just wouldn’t go into the feeding frenzy because they’re little weaning idiots.
But Pyrite was SO full of milk because she obviously hadn’t fed last night either! :x

So, now I figure, “What the hay, I’ll risk it,” and bring in some underfed kits from around the other litters. Didn't try masking scent or anything, just dumped them where she's used to feeding...which is on my bed. After some chinning, she settled over them like a good girl. I’ve never had such an age gap between cuckoo kits! Hers are almost 5 weeks old and the cuckoos are less than a week.

What a weirdo. But she makes a good foster mama though, I suppose! :D
