Well, this is a new one for me. (Can't write what I want to here because my wife laughs at me.) I did some google searches along with RabbitTalk searches for what it might be but wanted to see what you all thought too and if you'd run into this before.

We went out to check how to put another cage in our already over crowded carport and after we were done I decided to check to see if my NZW doe was pregnant. I took her out of the cage and my wife noticed blood along her eye. When I turned to that eye there was much crust and cuts along that eye like she had been digging at it. I've attached a picture of what it looks like.
Yesterday I let all my does out so they could get some exercise and when I came back to put them up I noticed some fur around like some had gotten in a fight.

Does anyone know what this is? Does anyone have any solutions other than vet? Has anyone run into this before? Me personally, I think it's either Conjunctivitis or Myxomatosis.

Also can I eat a rabbit who has either of these?

Looks like she got in a fight and got scratched up. I would clean her eye and the area around it with something like Veterycin for a couple days.

Is vetercylin ok if it gets in the eye? The wife mentioned neosporin but I didn't figure id like that in my eye so I didn't put it in hers.

Yes, Vetericyn is safe in eyes. Dairies regularly use it in their cows eyes, according to a Rep of the product. This was before they started marketing the gel and eye formulas, so they just used the spray.

Just rinsing it in contact lenses solution (slightly antibacterial) and keeping the guck out will speed the healing process. Eyes heal amazingly quickly just on their own.

Thanks everyone. Just got the Vetericylin today (spray) and will start working with her. Glad it wasn't the worst case scenario.
