I got my lo-o-ong awaited order from Klubertanz yesterday! I ordered creep feeders for all 12 doe cages- they hold about 2-1/2 cups of feed each, and you only need to cut one wire. They are so neat! 6 holes for little bunny heads, and Mommy can't get her big nose in there!

Due to our valve placement, some of them are crowding the nipples, but I think it will be okay. (You can see the water valve in the lower right corner.) We are going to be redoing the system anyway.

This is Evil Blue's current litter enjoying their new dining experience!

Look at all those spots!

:D I know! 5 out of six brokens! Whee!!! I am surprised I didn't get any blues- the odds were against it with lots of black in their background, but not even ONE?

Creep feeders are a good idea when you have a piggy doe. :)

They are all piggy does! Not once they get the edge off their hunger, but initially they will scratch and scrabble at their poor children. You would think I never fed them anything.

I got my looooong awaited order from Klubertanz yesterday too! (ordered 2 in-stock items over three weeks ago) I didn't see those cool feeders though otherwise I would have gotten one... or two... or...

Mine was supposed to ship the ninth, and didn't until the 18th! I made the order in late April. I guess their business is booming, so that is good news, anyway! :)

That would never work for my rabbits....does will dig/tear at it if anything runs out [water/food] and babies grow too fast and would do the same. I'd have to tie the back end to the cage and even then, feet can fit. But cute picture!

I thought about doing creep feeders but i dont think it would work with mine..looks cool though lol
I love all the spots! lol

I am going to get some of these too, Sistah...hey, is one of those brokens a doe that is reserved for your very favorite Sistah? *hint-hint*...

My very favorite OAF in the world gets her pick of any of my wabbits! :D

Aw, you are the best! :hooray: :hooray: :hooray: :hooray:

ACK! Did I say ANY??? :wall:

Edit! EDIT! LionHeads are exempt from this offer!

Whew...

I was debating these myself. The say in the discription they're for "special creep formulated feeds for meat breeds" but wondered if they would work with my mini lops to help reserve a little for the kits. The does are getting a little snappy around the feeder by the time kits are 5 weeks. Also the only have about 7 tops but I've heard of breeders who only get 2-3. I don't know if they would be worth the cage space.

It has little hooks on each end, so it is secured to the wire.

I don't feed the kits any different than the adults except for when they are just starting to nibble- then they get rolled oats instead of whole in their grain mix. I bought these so the kits could eat without getting mauled by their mothers. Even if there are more than 6 kits, it is still useful- they don't finish it all at once so they can "take turns", and mine always have hay available too, as well as greens.

They don't really take up much room. They are only 2" wide. They can also be removed easily. Depending on where my does decide to kindle, I will need to remove them myself for the nest to fit length wise.

You could argue that they provide even more room...

LOL!! I was wondering about that. . .

I just avoid the whole issue by raising the kits in an indoor corral :D That way, I get to play with babies at night and they eat out of some glass condiment dishes I picked up at a yard sale ... they are flat, oval, about 6" x 8" x 1/2".

Right now I have 16 3 week old babies with the 2 13 week old angora bucks and they are all getting along fine ... of course, the angoras are really laid back and last week when all 5 angoras were together, there were just a couple of bunny blenders.

I use cardboard ceral cases and line it with the tyvek feed bags taped up with duct tape and cover that with an old sheet that I take up and flip out in the morning, then sweep up the coco puffs that wound up underneath, then wipe it down with vinegar water. In the evening, I put a clean sheet down and bring the babies in and about 4 seconds later, there are coco puffs all over :D

not too cute, just good looking rabbits. what kind are they?

Not too cute to eat, eh? :) They are Rex- standard, not mini.

i am considering getting some. i am so sick of kits sleeping in their bowls, and making a general mess.

They have been working out wonderfully for me. The does don't even bother trying to get at the food. I fill the creeps up first and then the J-feeders, and the babies go right to them- no more maulings from mom!
