I have a copper satin doe. She is consider broken because her front toes are white. I'm breeding her to a copper satin buck. Is there any chance to get broken kits out of her? The doe has 4 brokens on her pedigree, all on her mothers side. The bucks entire paternal side are reds, and maternal is REW and chins. If they won't produce brokens, what would my best choice be to get brokens: get a broken buck to breed to her or a broken doe to breed to him? Thanks!

How much white is there on her toes... is she a booted? I guess only time will tell, it may be the vienna gene giving her the white toes as well.

The white on her toes is hardly even noticeable. If the breeder hadn't told me about it, I would have never known. She's had 2 litters with a siamese buck, they were a mix of siamese, copper, chin, white, and tort. And 1 litter with the copper so far, they are all reds and coppers and one REW. I was just curious if I would ever find a broken in any of her litters. It would be a great surprise :)

This is the only picture I have that actually shows her front feet lol

I'm not sure that that's broken or vienna at all... it looks like it is just the natural lightening of the feet that most rabbits have *shrug*.

I'd breed her with a broken buck if you wanted broken kits.

Copper I believe is agouti, those white parts are agouti marks, so the doe is not broken.

You need a broken buck to breed to her, or a broken doe for you buck.

It does not matter how many brokens are in the pedigree, if a rabbit is not broken, it won't produce broken offspring.

Brokens can only make brokens :) If she didn't produce any brokens or vms bred to your Siamese it's safe to say she isn't broken.

You SHOULD get 50% brokens and 50% selfs if you breed a self(solid) to a broken. Some times Mother nature likes to play around with the genes just to mess with us :)

Thanks guys! I just wanted to know if it was something that might eventually happen or not. Eventually I will get a broken copper or red doe. I just love brokens! These are just meat rabbits, but I still love surprises in the nest box :)
