You think it's all right to toss the tree to the rabbits? I imagine they'd have a blast in it. lol

I imagine they'd love it! I'd give it a shot, myself. :)

I know the wood's not dry, like pine blocks for chewing or pine shavings, so maybe there are still too many resins in it. But they might not eat it, either, for the same reason.

In sweden, there is a habit of feeding pine/christmas trees to add a "wild" flavour to the meat :)
Never tried it, but heard some people being very sure it works.

Some christmas trees over here are toxic though (at least for horses), which is why we buy the simple, swedish native type that's less pretty but more animal friendly :)

I wouldn't do it, myself... I can't imagine how hard it would be to get pine pitch out of a rabbit's fur!

Plus, most Christmas trees have some kind of chemicals sprayed on them...the farm where we buy ours sprays some green stuff on them that helps with color and also is an insecticide of some sort.

Oh, yikes, I didn't know about all that nasty stuff! Of course, we cut our trees fresh at the tree farm, so as far as I know, they didn't have any of that stuff.

Also getting our trees ''on root'' from regular people not spraying toxic stuff on them.. (around here most people buying the less fancy trees does it to give their animals later, so they're ''natural''..or else it wouldn't sell at all)

Personally, unless I was dead certain the tree had not been sprayed, I would not take the chance. Even if it came from a tree farm, there is no certainty that it has not been treated in some way.

Zab's situation is a bit different since she is in Sweden.

Usually we get our tree from the woods. Pity we didn't this year. There are plenty of sticks to toss in though. I gave the young ones a pile of fallen branches to play in, but they were about 90% gobbled up by morning. XD

oohh...I think this explains why some of them were orange this morning.

If it is a Christmas Tree farm, then you can bet that they DO spray stuff on it. We cut ours down fresh at the farm too.
