So, I just had to cull my favorite kit out of Mama's first litter with us. She apparently snarfed her food pretty heavily and began choking. We gave her a chance to clear it on her own, and then tried to help, but it was getting to the point where I had to do what was necessary. I've dealt with choking animals (dogs, cats, birds, horses, rats, etc) but rabbits are a new one on me. Is there a generally accepted method of clearing a blockage with these guys? In the end, I don't think that she would have cleared it on her own as once I got into her, I saw a solid line of hard pellets going from her mouth all the way to her stomach with no break. It was a bad blockage. I was reading that this was not the most common of occurrences, but have any of you had this issue?

someone...somewhere would swing them up and down to help them clear a blockage...but I remember them saying... once a scarfer always a scarfer and you may as well cull them...

Whoa!

I've never heard of such a thing!

How terrible. :(

Sorry you lost her in such a way. ((Hugs))
