Anyone know anything about the Chocolate color rabbit that can occur in the Silver Fox breed? I was looking over the pedigree papers I have for my blue Silver Fox rabbits and the buck has a chocolate back in the GG. I realize that the Blue Silver Fox is not recognized yet,but some are saying they will be soon.

Yup, chocolate is not yet accepted, but there is a COD out on it just like with blues. From the breed site (http://www.nsfrc.com/bluechoc.php), here is the description, "Color is to be a rich chocolate of medium to dark shade carried as far down the hair shaft as possible, fading to a dove gray undercolor. Eyes: Brown, ruby cast permissible."

Here is another site with more info, too:

I'd love to work with the chocolates- tried to buy out a herd from a breeder one state over a while back that had chocolate carrier Silver Fox, but the breeder sold them in ones and twos locally. I was sad to hear that it turned out that way because it did not seem to be in the best interest of the breed.

Best of luck,

Lauren
