Does anyone know any Chocolate Silver Fox breeders that are more-so on the East coast?
Many of the SF breeders in VA have very small stock, my first pair I got were tiny compared to the breeder I bought my current doe from. I don't want wimpy kits and small adults. The breeder I got my doe from has black and blue, I'll be getting new stock from him when he is able to recover from the rabbit loss he had over the summer, like most of us also suffered from.
But I'm wanting chocolate as well. Some people are claiming to have them near by, but they are small! I don't want mine bred for their color, they need to be bred for what they are, big meat rabbits.
Also need to be a breeder people know and trust, not a random backyard person no one knows.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I'm not 'looking to buy rabbits' I'm 'looking to find good breeders/rabbitrys.'

I can't remember if you said you are on FB or not, I'm now on the Silver fox page, I can ask around. I only now of one person here, she has her stock from the lady Meara Collins who has the COD for chocolates. A friend of mine just bought a lilac too, so he now has the genetics for the chocolates. My herd does not carry it. I can ask around if you want.

Yea.
Maybe I can find some other VA people who would want to join in and I could drive out to another state and pick up a bunch. Otherwise, I don't know if I'll be able to drive more than 2-3hrs out.

I'm talking to one in Florida atm that has some but I can't get any transport for them. If you are on Rabbit Relay on yahoo you may find some. That is where I found this one.

Ohio to Va is not that bad, but you may have to wait until Ohio mini convention in May. Plenty of folks will come up to Columbus, so that is a sure thing as far as transport.

My brother lives in Florida, if he gets permission to leave the State for my wedding in May, he may be able to bring them up. But I don't know any breeders from there.

Not a problem either. if you can get transport, we can get contacts.

I'm almost certain Sharon has some chocolate carriers.

Just a carrier is not what I want, anyone can lie saying it has it in the background. Plus, I already have one she got at the auction or w/e it was.

I want a rainbow of breeders.

Just had to mention it, don't want to leave out a fellow RT person if not already mentioned.

__________ Sat Dec 29, 2012 8:53 am __________

Here's the listing. I am considering getting another black doe. I don't think I like the dilutes in SF much. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/grd/3464831159.html

Yay!
Now to win the lotto so I can make the trip out there...
=(

Or pester folks on FB until someone makes the trip. I wish I knew if someone was going from Va to the PaSRBA show, or if I was actually going to the show.

At $20-25 a freaking rabbit, I may end up just having to drive out myself!
I mean, I get it there is some work involved, but those people own rabbits, it shouldn't be costly because of that, they already know how to care for the species. I wouldn't charge much at all!
Which makes me wonder...Should I advertise and hope there are VA people here who want some from that area??

I already emailed them, haven't gotten a response yet. But it is a busy season right now.

Holy doughnuts! 6 hours one way if there's no traffic or stops! Now I really want others to join in... =(

Well...guess I will have to suck it up and make it out to Ohio soon.....lol

__________ Sun Dec 30, 2012 9:05 pm __________

Well, nvm. Got someone going out an hour to pick them up and then heading through my area. SoOoOOo, hopefully things go well and no one steals any dang pricy pedigreed rabbits!! Otherwise...I think everyone I know will be quite upset with me wasting money for kicks...Ugh, I don't have much faith in people doing the right things... =(

wait, you got chocolates for 25 dollars?
Nono, delivery.

Chocolate doe was $80, I think. Blue buck $40. She only had one chocolate right now. =(
I ended up doing the transport/delivery. Found a guy who asks just $10 a bun.
