That's funny that you're asking though, because I'm specifically trying to decide which of these would be better for me. It's going to be my Christmas present to myself.

Depends one who you talk to. The clamp works fine for me, one person fighting rabbits, one pass. But mine won't fit in the woolys ears.

Would it fit into a lionhead ear?

It should. I tattoo'd 6 week old Silver Foxes and they're small.

I'd like to be able to do my babies before I sell them, and I imagine a 6wk old lionhead is smaller than a silver fox.

I've emailed the people who made the pen one in hopes of getting some shipping cost info. I have a feeling I'd have problems doing the wee ones with the clamp type.

I'd say a 6 week old Lionhead is quite smaller than a six week old SF, since foxes get around 4-6lbs by 8 weeks. A six week old Rex is probably bigger than a 6wk old Lionhead. Ears are probably the size of a 6 wk old Holland Lop, even smaller. I can get the clamp into the hollands ears, I cannot get it into the Jersey Wollys, which is why I ordered the pen.

I have an equitat and its the same size pen. It will work with lion heads. It just depends on how big you write really.

Okay, I have 2 choices on shipping. $4.95 for first class, no tracking take my chances, or 20$(estimate) to ship with a tracking number.

If I go the cheaper shipping, it is same price/cheaper than the clamp kit, and I like the idea of a pen better than a clamp. I am not, however, a fan of the idea of losing it in the shipping process!'

Do I need to buy a replacement needle at the same time?

Mine came with 1 replacement needle, but I also ordered another, plus ink. I still haven't gotten the rest of mine tattooed with the pen, but the one I tattooed almost a month ago is still completely black.

You do have to practice writing and take some time but I hate clamp tattoos, they just make me cringe. Yes I know the pain is quick but so is ear piercing yet it still hurts, and we know it's coming!

They sent me a pen to write in the ear with and then follow those lines. I did write out an alphabet with a permanent marker on a sheet of paper, and then followed the steps in the video they have posted. I figured I'd work my way through my pet rabbits, and then onto my show rabbits .
