My doe Lulu is a self chin- she looks black but has a silver ticking and threw some kits that were black with blue eyes- so I've concluded she's a self black chin (I know she doesn't have vienna). She has also thrown a rew kit- so I'm thinking on the C locus the two colors she carries is Chd and rew. But in the Last litter she had with a new buck she threw a sable kit. So my question is- if she already carries Chd and rew on the C locus can she also pass on the gene for shaded sable- or was that the buck?

it would be the buck. the sable kit would be cchlc, getting c from the mom, and cchl from the dad.

Thanks- that's strange- I wasn't expecting that because the buck's a BEW and comes from a long line of VCs and BEWs and I've got a 4 generation pedigree and no sable on there- only sooty fawn and black and Agouti VMs and some BEWS.

BEW can hide any colour, just like REW and Himilayan.

Sooty fawn (tort to those in North America), agouti and black are all full colour genes and can easily hide the other 4 colours on the C-locus (cchd cchl ch c).

A pedigree doesn't show the colour of siblings and cousins so the shaded (cchl) could have been hiding in the parents, grand parents and great grandparents but just didn't crop up your rabbits particular family tree.

Since shaded can interfere with a proper blue eye colour in BEW I would speculate the breeder was trying to weed it out which could be why you don't have any on your pedigrees.
