We purchased a can of goats milk to feed our kits a couple days ago. We have a lot left and it looks like we won't need it for these kits.

It's in a plastic container and I was wondering if I could freeze it to preserve it in the event we ever need it again?

Thank you.

I don't see a problem with it. We have frozen cow's milk in the past. It does change the color to a yellowish hue, but since we only use milk for cooking we don't mind.

Since it will be on hand as an emergency kit supplement, I would suggest freezing it in an ice cube tray and then bagging the cubes so you can just thaw out a small portion as needed.

It's a Holland Lop. :D

Goats milk freezes very well, it doesn't separate like cows milk when frozen. I worked at a goat dairy for several years and we would freeze the milk often.

Note to self............ from Miss M in another thread -

This is what I am using (half recipe -- I don't need to mix a lot at once, it'll go bad):

1/2 Cup evaporated goat's milk
1 egg yolk (kinda hard to cut in half, so...)
1/2 Tablespoon corn syrup

Well, you got a question answered for me too JimmyWalt. This is something I was wondering recently. MammaSheepdog what a clever suggestion as far as the icecube tray. That would be perfect! I learn so many good tips on here! :)
