tums--
dandelions are known for pulling calcium up out of the soil, as well as thistle, and alfalfa. Kentucky Bluegrass is supposedly loaded with it, as well (giving it the blue shade)

I would go with tums too- that way if they want it, they can help themselves. Someone (trinityoaks, maybe?) puts calcium drench for goats in the water supply.

I haven't done anything personally... I think I'll go steal some of Hub's Tums right now and offer them to Jasper and Feather since they just kindled a couple days ago. I will report back shortly! :D

I give dandelions right now and alfalfa hay. I new they give more calcium . But in the winter time when i cant get the dandelions and i have one doe that will not eat them. I guess i will give her a tum and see is she will eat it. I only have the fruit flavor ones.

The Tums were a hit with most of the does! I gave one to each doe, regardless of how old their litters were. Feather, who is recently kindled didn't eat hers, but Evil Blue, whose kits are a month old, was so delighted that I gave her two! :D They are the berry flavored ones.

I am going to grab more and see if the bucks and growouts want them. Good thing Hubs gets the super-sized container!

I can see it now- Hubs in agony, wondering where all of his Tums have gone...

Yup! That's me! I don't keep Tums around, and I haven't been able to get hold of any dandelions or even alfalfa hay.

Silly question.... How did You give the Tums to the rabbits ?? Whole ? Broken into pieces ? or crushed ? or in the water ?

Thank You. :pancake:

When I give them whole they tend to drop pieces. I break them apart and leave them in the food dish. If the doe won't take it, sometimes I leave it in the water dish.

I second Skysthelimit- I gave them to mine whole, and Evil Blue munched hers down that way- but if they only nibble them, the tablets drop through the wire. I am going to break mine into bite sized pieces and put them in their feeders from now on.
