Ok, decided to put the four Cali Deal rabbits in cages. It's been raining nonstop since Monday and isn't supposed to stop until Sunday. Better stop for my wedding!!!
Anyway, decided to check them over again and I'm feeling something odd in one of the does. Of course, it had to be the calmer of the two pedigreed girls. I can feel large grapes, two in the tail side, one on the head side and in the center is something roughly round and the size of a baseball. It's hard, kind of like a chicken's full crop, but a bit harder and less pliable.
First two thoughts were something in the gut is stuck, so I'll be trying oil for a week and see if it does anything to the mass. Next was calcification of past litters. The grapes were soft and round, makes me want to wait about two weeks before any butchering. But the big, hard ball between them is strange.
I'm wondering how you tell if it is a calcified litter?
What are the known possible causes, feed, drugs, genes, etc, if any at all?
Is there any treatment, cure or ability/worth to save and breed the doe?
I'm concerned it might be genetic, as my other Cali rabs are descendants from this same line. Doe had bleeding, didn't run from my petting her, two large kit-like objects. She's acting fairly normal now, didn't deliver anything, the masses are still there. Gave her oil and her off poops with hair in them ended, regular poops now.
Oh, if this wasn't bad enough, my new Cali doe broke her leg the other day! I have no idea when nor how. Went out to move their pen to new grass and add some pellets and she hopped over with a dangling leg! She's laying around a bit more than before, not mowing down the grass. Any pain killers I can give her from the store? She is due on the 21st of this month, palpated the other day and I felt the smooth grapes in there. I had heard a rabbit screaming three times that other night. Went out, there was nothing in or near the critter yard, no disturbed grass or dirt, no fur, no blood and no missing rabbits. It was raining and dark, didn't see any feet sticking out in weird angles, but she could of been sitting with that leg facing away. I did spot a deer doe down by the creek fence, but that wasn't an issue.
So, anyone know about calcified rabbit kits?? Going to Google it, but wanted your all's thoughts and possibly experiences.

__________ Wed May 08, 2013 2:58 pm __________

I guess it's more commonly called retained kit instead...
