Broken red + broken red = bad markings???

So I crossed my beautifully marked Broken Red NZ doe with my equally beautifully marked Broken Red NZ buck and got, not the pretty kits I expected but two reds and four broken reds that look like red rabbits caught in the snow.

Random white hairs times about a million.

Cute, but NOT the sharply marked kits I was expecting.

What is up with that?

those white hairs might moult out.

But now you know what that two rabbits carry and that's the scattered white hair syndrome. Some rabbits carry and others don't. See what those kits moult out as and go on from there.

Agouti colors seem to need a little time to mature. They can go through some weird shades and individual hair colors until they get their senior coat.
