Breeding my American Fuzzy Lop to a Jersey Wooly

Hello rabbit enthusiasts,

I have a blue American Fuzzy Lop whom I would like to breed to a blue Jersey Wooly. Since my rabbit has lopped ears, and the Wooly having straight ears, what will the offspring's ears look like?

Will the Jersey Wooly and Fuzzy Lop make attractive offspring?

I'm pretty sure you will get a very fluffy bunny, but the ears might not lop...I think lop ears is recessive, so the ears might be erect.

However, that pairing sounds like it would make ADORABLE little critters!

You will likely get all kinds of ears- upright, "airplane" ears, and lop ears... even two types of ear on one rabbit.

What are your plans for the offspring, and the program in general?

Hi Logan,
I just did this cross. The floppy ears are recessive so babies all had ears that stood up except... one favored the lop more and had a notably rounder head shape- one of her ears is lopping over extremely cute. I got crazy cute babies out of the cross. They are only 6 weeks now- my worry is that the fur will be like the fuzzy lop which is harder to groom - I am hoping they get the Wooly fur as it has more guard hairs and is easier. When I sell I show people the picture of my White JW below and tell them not to buy unless they enjoy brushing.
