I got a Booted Orange Netherland Dwarf buck, and after shedding out his baby coat his orange has more dark tick marks on it. I was wondering if possibly he was a smutty orange? I am not one that is good on identifying smutty markings. Here are some pictures of him from this morning.

A smutty orange is an orange. They're the same thing. One just has undesirable ticking ("smut") on the ends of the hairs due to subtleties of the genetics of the color. So yes, your buck would be considered smutty; a clear orange without that ticking is what the SOP calls for.
