Hi all, I am having trouble finding info on google. I have 2 does who each seem to have a blocked milk duct. It is hard to the touch around the nipple but thankfully the milk when expressed is white and does not smell or look weird. Is this something that will clear on it's own? Is it common or something unusual that they both have? Should I take them to the vet or heat/massage/express it ? Thanks for any advice

My does occasionally get it depending on litter size and diet. I just keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away or feels warm or it pains the doe then I use warm up a sock filled with rice and massage the affected nipple. It also helps to flip the doe and put a kit on the nipple to nurse out a blockage. If it still persists I give a small amount of mint until the milk recedes enough to relieve the blockage. Dandelion leaves can then be used if milk needs to be increased.
