I've fed purina show/ complete depending on what was available and didn't have good results the switched to a local milled feed that produced the BOB french lop at nationals but it has a bunch of corn and now I've got bloat going around. I'm feeding mainly mini lops with a few himmies. I can get ahold of manna pro show, Pen Pals, and possibly Heinhold in my area. Any opinions on what is the better show feed for the price?

My rabbits wouldnt eat pen pals. No Ideao why, I slowly mixed it in,and they wouldnt eat that. Currently I mix 1:1 Manna Pro and Producers Pride. This seem to keep my rabbits in good shape.

My rabbits will eat anything, doesn't matter. I switched to penpals because I wanted a higher protein, and everyone blew coat so badly no one is good for show season. My penpal guy just started with Rowe, and it is less expensive than Penpals and Producers Pride, and it's what my breeder feeds, so I will give that a try.

I was looking at Rowe to but havn't researched price or availability. I was thinking about giving heinhold a try but after transport and retailer mark up I'm not sure I want to hear the price.

I just checked Rowes distribution map and the closest retailer is 2 states away so I don't think that will work.

__________ Thu Apr 04, 2013 5:44 pm __________

The feed I'm considering are manna Pro sho, Pen pals show or Heinold show/ general. I've been debating on 2 different rations depending on if they're nursing, growing, conditioning, or just need a maintenance ration. Price must be fair though, I think I was paying 20.50 for purina and can't go back to that I was paying 16.50 for this ration and would like to keep it closer to that.

I have used Pen Pals 16% (hollands, dwarfs) and 18% (NZ, Cali, Elops) for several years and liked it alot. Very consistent feed. But have to travel 45 plus minutes to get it. Started our meat breeds on Rowe 16/18% protein, 3.50% fat about 5 months ago. Litters have done awesome, nice hard bodies and have not lost a baby to enteritis. All adults look and feel awesome too. No trouble switching them either.

Just now switching hollands and dwarfs from Pen Pal 16% protein, 3.00% fat to Rowe 17% High fiber 2.50% fat. Rowe food is always fresh and priced well.Very happy with it and the Rowe dealer is 5 minutes from us!!! :D

We feed MannaPro show formula with good results. Judges almost always compliment fur and condition on our Holland Lops.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! The ration I was feeding does well with the bigger lops but not so good for the smaller breeds :( I guess I'll have to see how my shopping turns out. I think it's going to be between Manna Pro Show, Pen Pals 16%, Heinold Show/ General, and Rowe 16/18 (I saw in domestic rabbit Rowe was expanding their distribution so we'll see). I've got to call some feed dealers tomorrow.
