*Sort of new, so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot

My doe kindled yesterday at 3am (finally, she was a few days late and I was about to start pulling our my own hair with worry).

She only had 2 and I have mixed feelings on this. One, I wanted more obviously, lol. However, she's a first time mom, so I guess the fewer the better right now. She's not exactly an excellent first time mother (didn't pull fur, didn't make a nest, I've already had to flip her so the kits could feed as they hadn't had full bellies since they were born).

I wanted to see if anyone here could give me opinions on sexes? I saw some pics showing the difference between does and bucks in newborns but am still having difficulty (this coming from someone who is a pro at sexing newborn kittens).
Pictures aren't the greatest so no worries if no one can decide. I'll get better pics in a few days. I'm just impatient, lol, and want to see what people think now.

*I just realized when trying to post these pics up that one of the kits decided it needed to use the bathroom while pics were being taken, lol. Kind of gross but I'm posting it anyway :p

-- Tue Jan 13, 2015 1:17 am --

Ok, so the images didn't go through, grrr. I'm so technologically challenged. Any advice on how to work this thing? Can I just post a link? Doing this off the phone as the computer is giving me conniptions.

Ok, so the images didn't go through, grrr. I'm so technologically challenged. Any advice on how to work this thing? Can I just post a link? Doing this off the phone as the computer is giving me conniptions.

I copied the image url instead of the page address... that should work. I can't help with determining the sex though... but don't worry, someone else will probably be able to do that in one glance for you.

Ok, so I still can't get my images to work :|

I'm trying to post from FB. Trying to use the image urls but it's not working. I'm sure I'm doing something silly. Also, same issue with trying to put a pic in my profile.

Once you're on the page with the image, you should be able to right click it and copy image url. That's what you want to use, not the address in the top bar.

I cannot tell you how to get the image to work from Facebook but I did highlight what I could tell after I copied it and opened in paint that it looks to be a doe to me. At least by what I see through the crusties. I have it marked with red, hope it stands out enough.

Thanks for the tip! I guess I'll have to pull it up on the computer (been trying to avoid that obnoxious thing, lol) as I don't think I can do that with my phone.

I think you are right about that one being a doe as well. I have clearer pics that I will get up tonight if I can boot up the computer.

-- Wed Jan 14, 2015 9:03 pm --

Ok, finally got a computer in this house to cooperate, lets hope I'm not jinxing myself here.

Here is the little red doe?

The normal doe?

And some very necessary cute photos :)

Anyone have an opinion on the red coated one? The other breeder I'm working with said it's likely a throwback or something. Both doe and buck are purebred with no recent outcrossing as far as I know. Obviously the red can't be shown, but she is still a little cutie. I'm just curious about the genetics aspect of it. There is unfortunately not a lot online about Belgian Hares.

I would agree that it is a doe. Though to be sure I would check again after it has gotten to 6 weeks and once more at 8 weeks. As for the colour I would have to say that it just happened to get the recessive genes to make it more of a golden red instead of a deep dark red.

Will definitely check again in a few weeks then. I'm just an impatient person when it comes to stuff like this, lol
As for the red, it will be interesting to see how she turns out. She's got the pinkest little nose; reminds me of my red Doberman when he was just a little thing (I love red and brown critters!).

Thanks!
