We have a ruby-eye-white mini lop doe senior (6 mo old), and wondered if they were rare, and if offspring could be sold for a better price than a normal mini lop?

Thank you.

I have three of them. One I bought, two i produced in my barn.
Had another one that I had to put down at 5 weeks old due to a broken back. Had 4 others born DOA in my barn this year.
They seem to be quite a bit less common at shows. Part of that is it is hard to find a really good fur structure in the REWs, and they are hard to be kept perfectly clean and bright white.
That said, many people do NOT want them. But, when you can find a buyer that does like them, you might be able to get a little higher price.
The Sr doe REW I have is also the most expensive rabbit I have purchased, and she has never placed very high in any show we have entered her in.

So, this week I bred her to the buck who has sired all of the REWs I have produced.

__________ Sat Aug 08, 2015 8:39 pm __________

If you don't mind me asking, who did you get your REW doe from?
What is the rabbitry name on her pedigree?

I have 4 of them right now. Not purebred mini lops, but they are 3/4 and could pass for purebred. Cute little buggers.

We got her at a farm auction for $5............ So no pedigree. But did find the seller and found out she is about 6 months old.

We hope to breed her to a tri-colored male (white, brown and black) to see if she has a mix of cute bunnies. We have her because she is so beautiful by herself, and think that any kits she has might have a great temperament like her and the buck. :)

In my understanding, rew can hide just about any color. The only way you can get tri-color or harlequin babies, is to breed to a doe who is either tri-color or harlequin, or a non-extension color or who carries non-extension.

You won't know until you try.

Sweet parents make it likely to have sweet babies though. Just be sure to handle the kits frequently from birth.
