Are my lionheads getting enough nutrition with unlimited hay?

New to buns.

I’ve had 2 lionheads for several weeks.

They had free access to pellets for all of their 3 years- no issues. They were given some hay.

I restricted their pellets and gave unlimited hay. I'm the beginning they ate their Timothy hay and some fresh greens daily like they really like it.

Now they act very hungry, not eating as much hay… I’m concerned they are not getting adequate nutrition.

Poops look fine. Not lethargic.

I don’t know if they have lost weight because I haven’t held them.

Opinions and experiences?

Thank you

I give mine a cup of pellets/day each as nutritional insurance. If they want it, they can (and do) eat as much of that as they choose. Beyond that, they get unlimited fresh greens (not green grass though; that’s too hot except in very small “treat” amounts) in summer and alfalfa/grass hay (b/c that’s what’s been available lately) in winter.
