I was about to process a one quarter NZ, one quarter amchin and one half goodness only knows what and then realized......

He has blue eyes and is white as snow.

Having a limited memory capacity I seem to remember that some people breed for that but just cant remember.

Yes, they are 'spe4cial' They are what many people refer to as <Vienna>-- The Vienna genetics are whgat proiduxces the blue eye00 and is hidden very well in many breeds and colors-- sometimes, a rabbit will have a white area that can indicate it is carrying the blue eye genetics,, and is oftyen hidden in Dutch marked rabbits,,

Define special. It's just a color like any other. Caused by the vienna gene when it's doubled. Some people hate having that gene in their rabbitry because when they only have one copy they can show odd white patches or sprinklings of white hairs that make them unsuitable for showing. It depends what you're breeding for as to whether you like it or not.

If he is actually a blue under his REW coat his eyes could look bluish with pink highlights.

A true BEW has vibrant sky blue eyes and it is a very rare colour in meat breeds and pretty scarce in the pet varieties too.

BEWs are only special for people who breed for them. ;) No breed or color or variety is special to everyone...one person may swoon for sandy-colored Flemish, but I wouldn't, because I'm tickled by the little blue and back Mini Rex and the standard-silver Champagnes. ;) To each their own!!!

Yes Bad Habbit it makes you extra special :D - Wikipedia says blondes make up only 2% of the worlds population.
I think if anyone has a perfect show quality BEW in any breed it's special because its just so dang hard to get that color- even if you get a BEW rabbit it can't have any sable or chocolate genes lurking in the background or it makes the eyes lavender- so even if you get one chances are its carrying a recessive color that will spoil the whole thing. REW is hard to get also -because you have to have two recessive genes but its easier then BEW because other colors like sable and chocolate don't ruin it.

Oh, I didn't mean blond hair... I have blue eyes and white skin. Reddish hair though.

I think that in the pet market, BEWs are seen as rare or special, however to breeders who know what they're doing, it's not all that amazing. They're only useful to people who want a BEW line, as you cannot cross it out to another colour - once vienna is in the pedigree, it is there regardless if it hasn't shown itself in generations. All breeders assume a rabbit with vienna in the heritage is a non-visible vienna carrier. I actually got rid of all of my Vienna stock because it sold for nothing more than pet stock. Now that I'm out of vienna and working on sable in the lionheads, I'm actually getting breeders interested in my rabbits!

I think in people, REWs are super extra special.

I think the blue eyes whites are amazing looking...but then I'm still kicking myself over selling my flemish that was white with green eyes since I haven't seen a green eye rabbit since :/ has to be some just haven't seen any ~shrug~

Did you take any photos of the green eyes? I'm going to google green eyed rabbit and see if anything comes up - I have green eyes.

I think red hair in people is really cool and its even more rare than blonde.
Yes, I'm finding out the hard way that breeding the BEWS doesn't make other breeders impressed at all. People with really good typey stock in the colors I need like Black don't even want to sell their best rabbits to me- because they want them to go to someone who they can share stock with and will continue to further the lines not contaminate with white mismarks. Which means no one wants to share stock with me.

Sadly I didn't ...I didn't think it was rare or anything at the time...I just remember because I warned the person that bought him ..sorry he has green eyes not red so isn't properly colored, they jumped at it said they were glad cause they didn't really like red eyes...I almost kept him and his brother whom I do have (is fawn)...It was a litter of three the other was dark sandy and the mom was fawnish sandy...father was deep fawn . Bought the mom bred so that's the most I know about it...if his brother gives me any green eyed kits I'll be sure to take pics this time @.@ heck wish I still had the mom :/

I'm blond >.> and my mother and sister are red heads :p

 What a fun thread to have started with a simple question!

The bucks eyes are a very very dark blue. Black in most lights but the sun was hitting just right to show the blue yesterday.

My kids are red heads as was I till the silver started taking over

some people really find the red eyed whites creepy looking, I find those people silly ;)

Hummmmm... could you post a picture? Some frostys look pure white (especially if they have a lighter version of the chinchilla or are a blue chin AKA squirrel) and chinchillas often have blue/grey eyes. Link to chin eye - gallery/image_page.php?album_id=191&image_id=1934

Ideally a pic outdoors on an overcast day when his pupil will not be too dilated and more iris is visable

Every bun but one in my herd carries REW. I get them all the time and it is ridiculously hard to eliminate. I don't like them, not because of Red eyes, but they make my color crossing choices on step harder, and depending on what they are, in a rainbow herd like mine, it may be bard to figure it out.

Still having camera troubles so no picture yet. But I havnt eaten him yet either so there is still hope for one

I had a green eyed bunny once to but we ate him. We never knew they were rare so he wasn't anything special to us.

I guess its like the bookcase beside me that I picked up after someone had thrown it away, they didn't know it was a Globe Wernick sectional bookcase and worth $700 but I did!

__________ Sat Nov 30, 2013 9:48 am __________

After all that his eyes were a dark grey so in a sunbeam, they looked blue.

He tasted nice.

Have a litter from the same doe growing out now with the same kind of color to their eyes. Cute little things.

Side note, I have one chocolate with blue eyes. Only one out of the litter that has blue eyes.
