Not to get my hopes up or anything but my NZW was a nest building maniac this morning when I left for work. She was frantically picking up every stray piece of hay and adding it to her nest. She FINALLY has pulled hair. Not much but a little. It now appears she is trying to compete with my Silver Fox doe for the biggest nest.

Don't you know I have popples on the first night in over 10 yrs we have predicted for snow. Gotta figure out how to keep em toasty in our unusual weather. There are 6 little blk bunnies in there.

I would bring the box in overnight...just to be safe, since this is your first litter and all...:)

If I bring the box in will it make her ignore them? She is very aggressive toward me. I filled her cage with food to grab the box for pictures. She was hissing and screaming at me. when I went back out I thought she was going to attack me. If I need to bring them in I will fight her off and bring them in.
My husband has shop lights set up under them right now and a thermometer to monitor the temp. Before the temp starts to really drop he will turn on the lamps. They are nice and warm right now w/o the lights.

You have to be so careful with heat lamps and shop lights, they are a big fire risk. I would rather bring them in myself. And, in the morning, she should be so relieved to nurse them, it should not bother her. Plus, the kits cannot get away from the heat. Others may have a different opinion....

good point. I did not think about the relief of nursing being a good factor. Thanks! I'll just bring them in. Should I wait to see if she nurses them this evening first? they are so wrinkly they havn't been fed yet.

Since they usually nurse at dusk and dawn, I would wait till it gets dark.

That was a misleading title! I was hoping to see a rabbit with hay in her mouth! =(
