That is the plan. Still have no clue how it happened, especially from a NZ/Flemish doe and silver martin buck... We'll see next time we mate the two together what happens.

I put the pictures of this month's 2 litters (so far) in my gallery. Expecting another litter around the end of the month.

The one litter, I got 2 black, 1 white, and 1 chocolate.

The other litter, I got 2 black, 1 brown, the calico shown above, and 3 cows. Wife keeps yelling at me "they're broken black" ... eh. they look like cows to me, so I call them cows.

I will say this, for a rabbit that neither of us particularly were thrilled with (you can see her in the background of the pictures), she's a great mom. first litter, kindled 7, haven't lost any from her 11 days in now. Nice fat buns, heaviest yesterday was one of the cows at 6.5oz, lightest was the calico colored at 5oz.

In comparison, Alice kindled 8 the day before, and we have lost 4, also first litter. Sarah, her first litter we lost the entire bunch. She's the one due the 29th...

The kits colour is called Harlequin and the silver Martin buck must secretly carry this gene as the doe is a fawn so would look harlequin if she was the one with it.

Statistically 50% of the litter should carry this gene.

50% of the black kits should be otters as well, do any have brownish markings around their eyes and ears?

Could you post a picture of the silver marten buck?

Haha we got a surprise cow with our last liter. So far it's one out of fourteen. All the rest from this doe and buck have been white and/or gray. They're miniatures, this I'd litter number three. My first thought was it looked like atiny cow. My kids thought the same thing and insist on calling out, "Moo".

The doe is a very nice dark red and silver marten is such a lovely colour, I don't know why it's isnt more common. Benny looks like a real sweetheart :D

The reason i wanted to see the buck was because the harlequin gene can alter the coats of full extension, agouti based rabbits and I was curious to see if it created any brindling effects in a tan/otter/marten but I don't see any. I guess it can hide in tans as well as selfs.

Thanks

Benny is really sweet, just still jumpy with people. I'm working with him, and he's getting better about it.

I checked both litters, only one out of the 4 blacks has a small brown spot behind it's ears.
