I decided awhile ago that I wanted an AFL to use for showmanship and learn the three things that I have to work on learning to judge - crowns, upright compact posing, and wool. I found this one on Craigslist, but it says she never lost her baby fur...does this mean she won't ever get wooly? I was mainly drawn because of the low price tag, I don't want to spend the $40-75 that a good show quality AFL will cost me in this area.

She doesnt have baby fur at that age.whatever her fur is is what it is.I have seen many fuzzies with fur(wool)that really wasnt much longer than Holland fur.My Neice raises Fuzzy lops. You could still use it for showmanship. Many of these fairly short furred animals were being shown.

"Baby Fur" actually means she is lacking guard hairs and will be a devil to keep groomed. Fuzzy lops are hard to keep as juniors but are better as seniors for coat care.It also looks like a fuzzy Holland not an AFL so don't know what shomanship entails and whether you have to meet the sop or not?

That price sounds really reasonable. I usually pluck the baby wool at 8 weeks. Without seeing what she looks like it's hard to tell wool wise because the photo on the link is soooo dark.but I would think if you got her just pluck out the baby wool so the adult wool can come in. After that the grooming won't be difficult. If it is a case of the wool just not coming out (which is weird. I have only see that happen on a "Fuzzy Holland") I would just shear it off. In a few weeks I will have 9 juniors to pluck (YUCK) Keep us updated. I would be happy to share my tips with you. :)

That's what I was thinking, that she looked like a fuzzy Holland, especially considering the other rabbit in the ad is a Holland. It says she comes with a pedigree, though, so I'll have to find out I guess!
