A few weeks ago I was feeding and noticed a nasal rattle in my F Lop buck. So I made the difficult decision to cull him and asked DD if she could do it to avoid it spreading to the others back there like the other virus did. She very reluctantly said she would but when it came down to it she didn't get around to it.
That afternoon I saw a big sneezing fit and then that evening at feeding time I did him last and he seemed clear so I was encouraged! I thought maybe he had something up his nose! Woo-hooo! :D
Told DD not to cull him, lets wait and see.
Since then there has been a couple of bouts like that again ending with a big sneezing fit then being clear as a bell. Then I noticed that he was getting that way only when I give him hay. He doesn't care for hay so I didn't give it much. I was hoping he learn to like it. Maybe he knew something?......Since I totally quit over a week ago he's been perfectly normal and clear since.
Should I continue to treat him as contageous or not? I do him last just in case and his cage isn't right next to the others, he's still back in the area the virus was. He never had symptoms of that virus. What do ya'll think? Could he still have the big P or is he OK?
No body else back there has any respiratory symptoms at this point.

It could not even be an allergy, but maybe just dust in the hay. I would also just quarantine and stop giving hay to see what happens .

Yep, might be just the dust up his nose or possibly an allergy. Don't give him any more hay and see what happens.

Yay! Thanks everybody! He hasn't had any hay or those symptoms for more than a week. I'm hoping thats it. He will be staying where he is for about a month then everybody moves to the winter spot in the garden when it gets cool. Depending on how things go with him, I'll decide then if he can rejoin the rest or if he'll be put in another part of the garden or if he gets sick I guess we'll have to cull. Hope not. He's such a sweety! I love my Frenchy! :)
I had hoped to find him a wife one day but now I'll be happy if he stays healthy!

It sounds like he has allergies or dust like everyone else is saying. Sometime procrastination is a lucky fortune.

That is so true in this case! If she'd done it right away, he'd be gone! I'm soooo glad she didn't get around to it!! :D I just did the evening feed and he's still doing great. That was the part that was strange to me is he had nasal congestion but he was happily bouncing around like he felt like a million bucks! (Pardon the bun pun LOL) It was weird!
