And WOW! Have NEVER put rabbits together with less sparks

One broken grey buck now lives with a red, a not so well marked mostly white broken black and a red eyed white.

And now our silly dog has some rabbits that are all her own and will be around for awhile. I moved the big cage so it totally covers our sliding glass door, leaving an 18 inch gap so the dog can get to and from her dog door. She is relaxing in the gap watching "her" new buns get acquainted with each other. Or in other words, watching the buck try to love on all the girls at once

Yay! She has bunnies again!

Bring on the thunderstorms! ;)

She got VERY nervous when I processed the last batch of friers so when she saw the rex bunch going in she heaved a sigh of relief and lay down next to them. The funny thing is, the rabbits, who had NEVER seen a dog, just went right up to the wire and sniffed noses with her

I can sit on my couch and watch the new colony which is a lovely new way to enjoy rabbits <br /><br />__________ Mon Oct 15, 2012 3:54 pm __________<br /><br />This is so much fun! I love rabbit watching anyway but doing it in comfort is lovely. Now to brew up a nice cuppa tea and watch four rabbits act like they grew up together.

Have to admit though, I find myself waiting for the other shoe to drop

Maybe you should make them a soothing cup of chamomile tea, too!

But before you get too comfy, :gettowork: We need pictures! :camera:

 Already took LOADS of pictures and will post them tomorrow.

They all had resting boards in their cages but when I had a good look at each one today they all had sore hocks and one of the younger two had pee scald as well. Feel bad about not noticing it but they all hid it well  Stupid things, if they would just SAY when something is wrong I wouldn't have to feel like Sherlock Holmes trying to figure out when something is wrong!

We call our dog Jake, the "Bunny Watcher". He feels all of them are his, lol. Does a good job watching them. Fawkes our Flemish just loves his big buddy. And when Willard wants feeding, he'll ring the bell and that's Jake's signal to come wake us up in the morning. lol.

I think until you really get to know your rabbits, you have to be like Sherlock Holmes. A prey animal will tell you nothing.

Can't wait to see the load of pics you have taken.

We have a border collie that was so happy when they arrived so she can have something to 'herd' other than cats when the buns are out in their exercise areas.

Here we go, lets see if the pictures work this time

So there they are!<br /><br />__________ Thu Oct 18, 2012 6:11 pm __________<br /><br />I find Rex seem to have very intresting and funny expressions and do the mass break out thing, when their keeper is distracted taking pictures, REALLY WELL!

Thanks for sharing the pics. Love the pics! Really like the set up and they all look like they are settling in. Your Rexes do have interesting, sweet expressions. Sorry about the mass breakout, but truly enjoyed the pics. Thanks! Wishing you all the luck with them.

Broken Blue? *sigh* I hate it when my ignorance is showing <br /><br />__________ Fri Oct 19, 2012 9:48 am __________<br /><br />I love combining my love of scooping up treasures that people throw away on the side of hte road and my rabbits!

A few months ago I picked up a home made step ladder. Two steps up, made out of ply wood and rock solid so this morning I cut a round hole in one side, ventilation holes in the other and put it in the colony. So now they all have to go up two steps to reach their J-feeder.

Exercise, fun and a nest box all in one

And its really funny, after months of trying to name two of them, and weeks of trying to name the other two, being able to watch them interacting with each other we have found the perfect names for three out of the four just this morning.

They look great, and very happy!

I love the red Rex- want, want, WANT!!! :p

I wonder what colors you will get, mixing red and blue? :? Purple?

I am about three days from tying a string to her tail and "helping" Captain Rex have his way with her. I thought being in the big exciting cage would make her more receptive to him but nope, she can clamp herself so hard to the ground he just cant get the job done.

But she is a pretty girl, isn't she?

Hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Congratulations on the find.

Sorry to hear the Red doe hasn't settled down for breeding. Hopefully the string will work. Don't know if they will be purple, but you could have some good meat for future meals. Wishing you luck!
