I've tried it several times. Some came out nicely. Don't know how long they will last. The flesh side if stiff but the fur side is nice and soft. After washing the skin in cold water I just drape over a clothline during winter months when there are no flies. I've also dried some in the fridge.

I've always read you have to beat up the hide to make it pliable. Kinda like when you fold a piece of sheet paper until it's been scrunched up so much that it's soft and dang near a tissue.

Eskimos chew on hides

Doesn't this mean the hides are not tanned in any way - seems like they will break down pretty quickly, doesn't it? Like within a few years?
