I have a young flemish giant doe that I would like to make a house rabbit. As such I am planning to have her spayed for longevity and better litter habits, but I am having trouble finding resources to figure out the ideal timing for spay.
I'm concerned about the effect of the lack of hormones on growth plates and the possibility of it causing joint issues. Most of the information about spaying and neutering I have found is from the house rabbit community, and they suggest between 4 and 6 months. But a 4-6 month old netherland dwarf is at a much higher state of maturity than a flemish of the same age!
Anyone know or hear anything about spaying and neutering large buns like flemish giants, continentals, french lops, etc?
