The kits (have 2 litters) are about 8 wks old. They have been growing slowly(needed more protein, etc.) and it's been very cold, which is why I hadn't already seperated them. Anyway, today was the day so I moved each doe to a new cage with the smallest kits from that litter.
My question is now when can I seperate females from males?
My guess is: every day or 2 take out 1 more kit, until all kits in each litter are together in cage without mom. Then split them up according to sex.??? I have 5 cages total.
Thanks!

At 8 weeks the babies probably aren't nursing anymore. If you think they are, I would just leave one or two of the smallest with the doe for a couple days and remove the rest. You can separate by sex now.
