I have just a few questions that I can hope someone will be able to help me answer. The first one is I have a cage that was built away ago that is just empty sitting in the barn. I was wondering if it would be big enough to put a mini rex in? I want to get a MR doe at the fair this month but if I do so I am going to have to move my buck out of the bigger cage and put him in the empty one I am asking about. If it is big enough I will be attaching a box for him to lay in and keep warm during the winter.

Cage: Length is almost 2 1/2 ft, Width is 23in, Height is 22in
Hope I read that right...

Now the other question I have is my friend ending up getting a MR buck at the fair. Well his being housed here. I ended up looking over him the next day and found out that he has ear mites and on top of that looks to be a little over weight. Well I want to know from others if he looks a little over weight to you before I do decide to put him on a little diet. And what would be a good diet to put him on? Also I believe his a black otter am I correct on that? Im trying to get my colors right and so I can tell my friend what color her mini is. Oh and if yur wondering way his ear looks wet its because Im treating the ear mites.

I believe the cage is large enough for a MR. I would be sure to clean it really good first, of course, just to be safe.

As to the buck, I would be hesitant to change his diet much at the moment- a new home, and being treated for ear mites. I would probably wait until the mites were cleared up before I cut back on his food. He does appear a bit chunky to me.

I'm not good with colors, so I can't help you there.

Well, I don't know if it's just me, but if an animal has any parasite, I assume it has worms too. Annd that may cause the chunky look. I would first treat for worms and see if that helps.

Looks like a black otter to me. I would also wait to deal with his diet for the time being.

I definitely plan on cleaning out the cage really good before I put a rabbit in it. And I do plan on waiting to deal with his diet until his ear mites are cleared up and gone.
