Today I processed a 4 month old lionhead buck. After washing it with cold water I tossed it on the grill for about an hour around 300F. It was not tough and it didn't have any rabbit taste. Before today I could always tell rabbit meat by the taste. Don't know if the was just a bland rabbit or if the cooking method produced the result.

Was there any seasoning at all used between washing the meat and putting it on the grill? I mean, chicken tastes pretty bland to me if I use absolutely zero seasoning… maybe the same goes for rabbit sometimes? (Even a little bit of salt and pepper make a big difference in taste to me).

zero seasoning because I was expecting rabbit taste. Now I can see why some people say it tastes like chicken. I also poach my chicken unseasoned. I think chicken has a natural sweetness. When I have ginger I do use it with chicken.
