In her case, she's got really good type, but cottony fur

I was under the impression you could line breed, but breeding full brother to sister was a bad idea....I got the pedigree for a new doe and her parents are full siblings. How big an issue will this be later down the road? Breed is Rex.

So imagine my shock sunday night when breeding my 2 "black" lionheads....the doe looks reddish when I shine the flashlight at them! He was still black, but she definitely looked red, lol. In normal light I'd swear she was black....

I was breeding a few does last night and went to inspect this one to see if she was showing signs of being ready yet, when I found this! Any idea what caused this?

Is it possible to eventually breed the harlequin gene out using my existing castor doe? I mean by breeding one of her castor offspring back to her? Or will it always be there if I used her kits? Just seems like the tri/harequin gene is complicated, lol. I realize I already have a nicely marked...

So not showable colors...especially since the both brokens have white faces. Oh well. These are mostly for fun anyway lol.

Noticed several of the kits were out of the box this evening....and I had noticed before that one isn't QUITE castor...so here is the one plus the 2 broken. What is this color?? Looks almost wild colored??

Would I be better off trying to stick with castors then? Since it sounds like they are an easier color? She also threw several Charlie's in the past with that buck and a solid Harlequin...which I kept even though I know he's not an accepted color. I really needs to change out my breeding back...

Pretty much the same as this litter and same buck. I did keep a castor out of that litter, but was really unsure when I tried to sex it. I THINK its female....I hope lol.

I realize I have crap for rex rabbits...but I noticed my castor doe seems to throw a LOT of castors....even though she was bred to a tri broken. How would that work? Previous litter had several castor as well.

The 5 solid definitely appear to be castor. Here is the 2 broken.

I thought they looked broken....guess I was wrong? Ended up with 2 grey's and 4 blacks...culled 2 kits at 2 weeks that were solid colored.

I think it was the way the light was hitting them lol. Will the broken ones stay that way? I ask because I thought I had 2 broken in my lion head litter, but they all ended up solids.
