The New Safe Plants for Rabbits List

I’m pleased as punch to see folks hanging onto phrases from the past! So no actual book then 😂 If you ever decide to spill the beans and show your true colors you can write that book because after all the truth is in the pudding…cuz that would just take the cake! Or would that only happen when...

The New Safe Plants for Rabbits List

We mostly pick fresh grasses for our rabbits along with herbs and small fruit tree branches. But will sprinkle a veggie treat or fruit occasionally. Here’s a breakfast photo I took last week:

    Fleas

I wonder if Ivermectin would work for fleas since it is so effective with mites?

Using Tractors the good and the bad

Was wondering the same thing. We are planning to just use for the grow outs after they are weaned at 6 weeks. We read that you should move the tractor every day so as to reduce coccidiosis. So maybe they wouldn’t dig all the way out that fast? Thinking we will put something down though just to...

No Pellet Diet for 1 Month

Ok that does makes sense. So we continue to monitor their hay intake. 80 percent still sounds startlingly high though. If you think about a horse or a wild rabbit’s grazing habits…

No Pellet Diet for 1 Month

To date we have continued to free feed hay purchased from Tractor Supply, along with all the fresh pickings we offer them twice a day, but based on some other threads on this forum I was thinking it was not important if the grass was fresh or dried. However, I just ran into this site that says...

No Pellet Diet for 1 Month

Feedipedia, wow what an awesome resource... Thanks for that reference! I'm new to making hay. What do you mean by they shatter easily? Any tips on hay would be great. We just bought a large role of wire mesh and are thinking of making a wood frame to lay out in the sun...

No Pellet Diet for 1 Month

We have been transitioning ours as well. The bulk off what we feed them are native grasses and then we add in small quantities of other plants like dandelions, small fruit tree branches with foliage, herbs like cilantro and parsley and borage and comfrey. We also grow a lot of field peas and...

    Is this syphilis??

We aquired our first batch of rabbits, 2 does and this buck, a few months ago. We just bread with him a few days ago. We just found that he has several small white pimple like bump and this larger more visible one you can see in the photo. Is this syphilis? We are new to all things rabbit...

    Feeding alternative diet to Pellets?

What do you mean about starting early enough? I'm guessing you are saying it's best if the leaves have just popped in the spring when you harvest the branches for drying?

    Feeding alternative diet to Pellets?

What is the difference between the blue vs red salt block? I gave them a Himalayan salt rock and a red-ish colored mineral lick from the feed store.

    Feeding alternative diet to Pellets?

Thanks. This goes along w the really interesting YouTube that Rabbit Warren Man cited earlier in this thread: Looking up pollarding, it seems one really has to commit early on in the tree's life.
