    Late Kit???

Would this kit have gotten colostrum being born so much later then the rest? Because without its chances are bad.

    Growth Rate v. Confirmation

Part of confirmation is enough room for kits to be born, so wide pelvic canal i.e. straight hindlegs when you turn the rabbit on its back. It tells you how far apart the hipjoints are and the pelvic canal where the kits go through is between those joints. Also properly lined up front teeth are...

    Nesting box screens

I have a thick plastic "sheet" on top of the mesh about 1/2 inch shorter width and length then the bottom inside of the box. That keeps bedding in and lets wet drain out. Found the plastic spool of it in a ditch along the road a number of years ago, i suspect it is intended to serve as warning...

Doe is emptying nest box and cage floor

Sounds like typical nestbox, reason you want nest in the back is so that doe can hop in without stepping on the kits and heat rises, the top over the back part will help keep the heat in if they are back there and with winter and only 2 kits they may need the help.

    Family Emergency/Vacation Care

i am working towards 48-72 hours feed and water in the system, but that is just hay and water, no pellets (mouse attractants) or anything else. More so i can be away overnight in case of family problems or ending up stranded from say car problems when picking up something a bit farther away...

I think my doe is pregnant but she seems to be nesting early

I had does do that and kindle day 30-31, so yes you can end up with early christmas bunnies. Best is to wait and see, she has decided on a spot and keeps it clean, that is important. Right now don't worry or change anything including feed. You'll need to up the rabbit pellets after birth, not...

    Water bottles in winter

On snow before warm water : some animals know that warm(er) water may be bad, so they'll pick the colder/coldest source they can find. Horses have that tendency too. With only one option they are happy to drink it, with choice not so much. Some of it makes sense, some is just animal logic.

Can rabbits eat and thrive on brown dead grass through winter?

Hay is grass cut at max nutrition point (or a little less depending on what is should feed) in summer to preserve it for winter feed. It is very similar to drying veg/fruit that people do for winter storage of summer food.

    English Lop Ear Bleeding *BLOOD*

Clean it up. From the picture not seeing a cut is no surprise. Lethargic can mean bloodloss and shock, so hydration and warmth. There must be a wound somewhere given the visible blood and you need to know it stopped bleeding or there won't be enough blood in the bunny.

    My rabbit loves carpet

Give him safe stuff to chew (wooden chewtoys or some such) on and no more access to what he shouldn't eat. And make certain he has enough hay for when he gets the munchies late at night.

    Dispatch issues...

There is an older topic here about choke chain method. https://rabbittalk.com/threads/cervical-%E2%98%A0%EF%B8%8F-dislocation-vs-%F0%9F%90%B0-decapitation.35157/#post-345476 Has a yt video on how it works.

    Dispatch issues...

Strength plays a part when using broomstick method. I found a minirex doe adult was pretty much the max size wise i want to dispatch with that method. Now luckily i have dwarf rex, so they max out at 4 pounds adult. Dispatch them younger can help with some of it. Rabbits are surprisingly long...

    Boarding Rabbits?

Biosecurity risks, so i wouldn't. If you have rabbits of your own and especially if you depend on them for meatproduction or otherwise breed for show or such, you don't want to risk bringing in diseases. Animals from elsewhere regularly bring such risks. At shows there is more oversight on...

    Doe not receptive

Some does just won't breed when they still have a litter with them. May be hormonal balance, may be a anti incest reflex? So they're not bred by their own son(s). Here the schedule i got for breeding timing was 1st at 6 months (dwarf breed, for standard add 2-3 months ), 2nd at 12 (or 14/15)...

    Help with Frosty Ducks

Shivering like in all animals is a way to generate heat, but very energy intensive and an emergency measure. Could be they wont oil their feathers due to molting, but my knowledge of waterfowl is limited. From your indications they indeed needed the help.

    Help with Frosty Ducks

My horses had ice on their fur, happy and healthy all the way, just wel insulated, so no bodyheat escaped to melt the ice or snow but we rarely get that stuff here. So as long as they are active and dry where they should be, the frost should only indicate well working feathers. Now molting can...

    Artificial Light

The LED has daylight spectrum lighting i.e. specialty LED, not the standard ones the supermarket has here. The shed has no window, so light is mandatory and since i don't like messing with settings, 12 hours it is always .

    Artificial Light

LED daylight lamp on 12 hour timer. They are stil happiest to be bred in february, but most will take when bred.

Is it worth the risk to keep this buck?

In horses a little clear discharge is no reason for worries, only the colored stuff is. And humans in changing seasons get some of this as a reaction without it being an infection. I have a bit of runny nose going into fall/winter, no infection, just a reaction to diffences in temperature and...

    question about skin color

New owners are always a gamble and circumstances change. Think to hard about it and you'll either keep or euthanise/eat them. Color wise, the description points to responsibly paired english dots. Problem with broken (white + a color) is the linked intestinal problem known as megacolon in...
