Are you making money or losing money with your rabbits?

Our last KW with shipping was almost $700 or was it over $700...with the coated floors. Same size as above. Can squeeze in one more triple but will be looking for a used set!

What is the most popular breed to be raised for meat?

Alaska Satin is correct, people use the word Standard to differentiate between Rex and Mini Rex but it is not a correct term for the full size Rex Rabbit. Some breeders get pretty agitated when people refer to Rex as Standard Rex. Lol some also say Rex, not Mini-Rex, to differentiate so there...

Disposing of non-edible remains...in the city

We have had Australian Cattle Dogs for years 6 over the years and they have all been very very good with chickens and rabbits. They do herd them up if they get out or in the case of baby bunnies getting out of our house rabbits pen, our current Blue Heeler tells me where it is so I can...

    Treating sore hocks?

It isn't an overnight process, it takes some time to get the rabbits hocks/feed healed and then for hair to grow. I would work on it every day to make sure consistent progress is made. Once it heals, the fur comes in rather quickly.

    Sore Hock Treatment Question

We received a rabbit with really sore hocks that hadn't been caught, put her in a good cage setup with resting pads and hay covering the floor which we changed out every day. We did put triple antiseptic on her feet that is safe for rabbits eyes at first after we had cleaned them. She healed...

Can kits be given too much formula?

I so totally understand, we did the same thing trying to figure out what happened to prevent it in future, she was a great mom and had such a sweet personality. This is such a good forum, none like it in people so willing to give advice and assistance. Take care and congrats on thriving babies!

Hey, im new and i have a couple questions

We are in Oregon, my daughter purchased small curly willow starts, they grow fast, are pretty and good privacy shields. The rabbits love them! We feed orchard hay, our rabbits much prefer it to timothy. We give free choice on hay and do not have tummy issues. As noted it is critical to add...

Can kits be given too much formula?

Rolled oats are very easy for them to digest and help their weight gain, and they love them! You are doing a great job, very sad for mom. We had to do the same thing and had 8 to feed from just under one week old, mom broke her back somehow, assumed from a scare in the night. Anyway, it is a...

    Tips for 'friendlier' rabbits?

People who have our rabbits comment that we have the happiest and friendliest bunnies. It is all of the above excellent info that creates happy buns with great temperments. You can even win over those very independent buns with time and patience. Key is lots of sweet talk, strokes, and some...

we have a outdoor patio type swamp cooler with a big fan on one end and on the other a portable air conditioner with a fan. We still run water over the roof several times a day and give the moms with babies frozen bottles when it is really hot to lay against. They all have tiles in their...

    Oh Boy, It's Molting Time

We have a beautiful blue otter that was born hairless and didn't notice at first that her front feet were not quite right, possibly from birth or stepped on by mom, slightly bent. Anyway she insisted on living so we put her in with my pet doe Blossom who is a wonderful adoptive mom. She grew...

When to breed a recovering rabbit?

Copied from Alaska Satin above: "I don't know anyone who has lost an entire herd, or even most of their herd to snuffles, though I've heard about people that have euthanized entire herds in response to the threat of the disease. I may or may not have had rabbits with snuffles in my barn in the...

When to breed a recovering rabbit?

Here is an excellent vetrinarian article on snuffles along with (warning) gravic photos. The concern amongst rabbit breeders dealing with snuffles is that it can be passed through the breeding process and the kits can also be infected or carriers. In the sense that certain strains can be passed...
