Coccidiosis, trying to help a friend

If you can get your hands on some Artemisia herb that is great for cocci. Or you could do diluted apple cider vinegar and garlic and squirt it into their mouth with a syringe.

    Cuye (guinea pigs) for meat

I just saw a youtube video on raising guinea pigs for meat. It's fast becoming a delicacy in other countries. They basically need practically no care. You provide them with shelter like pallets topped with dirt that they can duck under when predators lurk about and they free range. The nice...

    Ideas for winter water bowls?

I think rabbits are the most well equipped animals for snow and cold weather. They don't seem to be bothered by it. They only seem to be bothered if they are wet and it is cold. So I would say as long as it's not a sloppy day, the answer would be, yes!

    Ideas for winter water bowls?

Yeah, I sometimes have flipped bowls. I'm in Western West Virginia and I used the black rubber bowls all winter. I don't like the fact that they are rubber and I know it leaches into the water a bit, but I changed the water 2 times a day everyday during use. Since the weather has changed I went...

Basic hutch questions from a newbie

That actually sounds like a great set up! I have attached a pic. of our tractors. The bottom is completely open with just a rim of fencing around the edge to discourage them from digging I move the tractors 2x's a day. Once in the early morning and once late at night and check their water.

    Feeding alternative diet to Pellets?

I did tree hay this year as an experiment and it is easy to do, but most of the leaves fall off and this is what the rabbits really want. You also have to commit to starting early enough to collect it, but it is a great way to supplement their diets.

Basic hutch questions from a newbie

Are you planning to breed? I am of the opinion that you should offer your animals as much space as you can afford for their health and well being. The more space you can give them the better. I keep mine in tractors that we can move around the grass to allow for them to graze. This is not...

    Pellet Dust Recipe and Uses

That is an interesting thought. It would probably be easy to incorporate some apple sauce and finely ground carrot to make them into some sort of bar for them to have a treat. My only thing is what would you use to bind it together? Maybe some psyllium husk?

Making dried rabbit ear treats for dogs.

I would say that in the wild our canines would consume hair. It acts as a natural fiber. If they were able to catch a bird, they consume feathers and if they catch something with fur, while they may try to pull most of it out, they would still consume a good bit of it, so what I'm trying to say...
