    Is my buck too small?

They are both lops. Is there anything I can do for next time to help with the breeding or do I just have to wait?

    Is my buck too small?

I have a 3lb, 2 yo buck and a 6lb, 5.5 mo doe and I’ve tried to breed them two times now. The buck has DEFINITELY been mounting and attempting to breed the doe but he can’t quite get to the right spot and I’m suspecting it might be because of the size difference. The doe also isn’t lifting well...

What breed to raise for show?

Where I live, there is a very large pet market and that makes it very easy to get rid of culls. Thank you both for weighing in, I went through a similar narrowing process and decided on mini lops. I picked up my first doe this week and I’m very happy with my choice so far! No peanuts but still a...

    Velveteen lop questions

Vlops and mini plush lops are both known to be very friendly breeds. Mini plush lops being smaller might be easier to handle. They will however be harder to breed because (if I’m not mistaken) they are dwarf breed rabbits and this means they will have peanuts, etc.

    Rabbit barn plan

I did think of the smell, but unfortunately the house is in a suburban HOA neighborhood with a tiny yard and there's really nowhere else that I could build anything. I will only be keeping a few rabbits however, and in stacker cages, so I hope to be able to keep the smell down as the waste will...

    Rabbit barn plan

Would you still bother covering the lattice (hah, forgot the word for that) with chicken wire to keep predators out if the rabbits are in cages then? That was my concern with the lattice.

    Rabbit barn plan

Water drips may be a problem, now that I think about it... I'll have to keep an eye on that. I'm wondering if waterproofing and sealing the deck would resolve the issue. We're also going to be getting the house renovated so maybe I can get underdecking installed while we're at it. I'm hoping for...

    Rabbit barn plan

I have been planning out various aspects of my future rabbitry and I’ve gotten to the rabbit barn. I have also realized that I have no experience building things! So I’m going to share my wobbly ideas and hope that someone can add in some recommendations. The plan: Under the deck there is a...

    Which Purina formula?

I've been reading about different pellets and I've heard good things about Purina, so I've decided to go in that direction. However it seems like they have four different formulas- complete, show, professional and fibre3. Which is the best for a breeding program and what's the difference between...

What breed to raise for show?

Ohh and tans are gorgeous. (I have promised myself to stay away from running breeds though) I don't know how I'll choose a breed!

What breed to raise for show?

I don't think I have a very good idea on the size of different rabbits! Is a 9 pound rabbit significantly larger than say a 4-5 pound rabbit? I'm thinking 30x36 cages for does with litters and maybe 24x30 for grow outs but I really don't know what sort of rabbit is the largest that I would want...

What breed to raise for show?

I'm thinking maybe Polish or Havanas. I've always liked Thriantas and I would love to start with them but they are very rare in my area.

What breed to raise for show?

I've heard that the markings on dutch are annoying to deal with when breeding for show. Do you know, if two dutch rabbits with correct markings are bred together, is it possible for a large portion of the litter to still have incorrect markings?

What breed to raise for show?

I've been on and off with rabbits for the past year or two- I've kept several rabbits, still have my one pet and I took in a pregnant doe recently. (the last of her babies are leaving this week) Soon I'll be moving houses and left with just my pet rabbit and I want to start really sorting out...

    Netherland Dwarf colors

I'm pretty sure Oreo's just a VM black. Vienna marks often show up in that pattern.

    new rabbits and several questions

Okay I will do that. My neighbor lives right next door so that shouldn't be a problem, and I will have a camera set up so I can keep an eye on them.

    new rabbits and several questions

So, for more than a year I've been planning to start breeding. Last September I was about to get a doe multiple times, but I ended up not getting one and for this whole time I haven't been able to start breeding as I've been very busy with a big project and some other stuff. Recently I was able...

    Rabbit Dewormer

I was previously recommended a pea-size drop of horse ivermectin paste. You put it in your rabbit's mouth once a week for two weeks. You can find it at Tractor Supply.

The Line Between Show Rabbits and Pet Rabbits

@hotzcatz I think WE is a seperate gene (EnWe) and I think it only pops up if you actually have WE rabbits :)

The Line Between Show Rabbits and Pet Rabbits

I think I might sell them for $50 each for the first litter. My primary goal would also not to make a profit, but it’d be nice for me to make a bit of money to use with the rabbits since I’m still in school and don’t have a ton of money. :)
