They are like little squeaky jumping beans!!

My babies are now 7 days old. We had gone out of town for the weekend and when we got back they are so different! The first thing I did was reached in to pet them and they were jumping and making cute little squeaky noises! A few have a corner of their eyes open and their fuzz is coming in. So...

Pictures of my 3 day old babies!

Thanks for all of your advice! The low oxygen thing totally makes sense. They have to be able to survive the nest when siblings are piled on. I would never freeze. That is an awful way to die. I had read up on the baking soda/vinegar thing on snake forums. I guess snake owners have feelings too...

Pictures of my 3 day old babies!

If I did have to put Stumpy down what would be the most humane way? I had to put down my daughters mouse earlier this year. It got scratched on the neck and ear through the cage and it got infected. Poor thing kept scratching itself and scratched off its whole ear :( I used baking soda and...

Pictures of my 3 day old babies!

My daughter is very attached to the baby with the stump. We are going to give it a chance. It it every looks like it is suffering I will put it down. The blanket is old and has been peed on by countless newborns (I am a newborn photographer). It is retired now so I use it for animals :)

Pictures of my 3 day old babies!

Here is Stumpy. Born on the wire he got trampled by the mom and dad :( One foot shriveled up and the other is swollen. I am guessing he will lose it too. When I put them on the fur blanket for their "photo shoot" they all went nuts trying to find milk I guess! They were digging all through...

First time having babies! Some dead and injured. Help!

I love the gnats too  They just happened to be in the right focal plane and made it in the shot. I am a photographer too :) -- Tue Jun 30, 2015 8:30 am -- I will definitely not buy feed store rabbits again. I knew the deal. I knew not to buy chickens there. I bought pure Ameraucanas...

Need advice on a new cage

So that wire is not coon proof? ugh! That is the only wire the people on the chicken forum said was completely predator proof! I know we have raccoons, my neighbors have lost 2 flocks of chickens to them. They have a small chicken wired run though that is just sitting on the dirt, easy to lift...

Need advice on a new cage

The hardware cloth I am talking about is wire. On a chicken forum I am on "chicken wire" is the devil and they all recommend hardware cloth. Well that is what they call it. It is wire and they all say it is the only predator proof thing to use http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-1-2-in-x ...

First time having babies! Some dead and injured. Help!

Thanks! They are pretty attached to them :) Problem is now when we go to the feed store for chicken feed she sees little fluffy lop eared babies and wants more!! Bunnies are like crack. You just cant stop! :bunnyhop: She had wanted lops from the start. They are morons there, they sold my...

Need advice on a new cage

When we first got 2 bunnies a few months ago we went the "recycle" route. I had many pinterest inspired pallet hutch ideas. In reality those stupid pallets were crazy hard to work with. I gave up after an hour and my hubby had to finish. We used one broken apart pallet for the bottom and parts...

First time having babies! Some dead and injured. Help!

I did not know what to feed the cottontail so I guess based on what I saw them eating in my yard and garden  The wild rabbits area always eating the chicken scratch that my girls drop before throwing in the chicken run. They decimate my strawberries and lettuce. I am sure they eat more...

First time having babies! Some dead and injured. Help!

My daughter (9) got 2 bunnies from a feed store several months ago. They were supposed to both be girls. I should have known something was wrong from the start. They were sold as "mini lops" but they grew quickly to a large size and they have tall very straight ears. I asked the woman at the...
