Colors: Picking your brains AGAIN ;) (new pictures)

While on the subjects of Harlis, what would a rabbit with the genotype A_B_chlcD_ejej look like? Any thoughts Dood?

    sable chinchilla - genotype?

Could be a sable agouti and lack a chin gene as well sinc they look virtually the same as a sable chin. Keep that in mind if you get REWs out of that rabbit when/if you breed her. I've gotten that little surprise before out of a "sable chin".

How to improve a line through outcrossing.

Many breeders from what I have noticed have gone to only looking at type and nothing else. Bone plays a big factor and regardless of the fine bone many of the "meat" rabbits are supposed to have, I firmly believe good bone goes hand in hand with better growth as thick bones animals can handle...

    Why I love Rabbits...

After having the rough year I've had socially, it is good to have the buns. Never a dull moment with the Mini Lops (Especially Pixie Dust). Love my rabbits dearly. Hope my future husband (as if someone could handle me) will come to realize that it is a package deal!

    Mini Lop vs. French Lop

It depends on how serious you are willing to get. You can find a good quality show bun for about $75 but really serious quality can run in the 100s. At least by me anyways.

    Bird Flu

I heard something about an order to slaughter all of the chickens in Iowa or something. Has anyone heard anything about this?

    Mini Lop vs. French Lop

    Doesn't Homer have French Lops?

Been asked to kill a pet rabbit...

I'm pretty sure I would go crazy if that happened here in the US. Can't stand the ARA.

    Mini Lop vs. French Lop

I raised Mini Lops myself and I absolutely love them. They are pretty common around us, much more so than French, but the Mini Lop community is awesome. It is full of kind and supportive people. We eat our culls and they still dress out fairly well at 3 months (Figure a pound per month old live...

    Makes Me Sick

Well, best to cull and move on. I have too many upcoming juniors to worry over one rabbit. If it were my top breeding buck I would be livid but it isn't. We live and learn. :) I agree that this rabbit shouldn't be bred. I never had any intention of doing so. Just upset that it both popped up and...

    Makes Me Sick

You have to draw the line at what you will allow rabbit to work through and what you cull for. Me personally, if a rabbit looks at me wrong it gets a swab up its nose and it gets sent to a lab. Enteritis and bloat I let them work through. Something like pasturellosis though would definately be...

Judge's notes... What does it mean?

Slope means that she slides off too early over the hip. I know she is young though so give her time. Mini Lops are one of the worst breeds that go through the uglies, IMO. I'll post a little development scale on loprabbitsusa.com

    Makes Me Sick

I have to disagree on the mucous enteritis survivors not being bred. That shows proof of a strong rabbit in my eyes and has been able to overcome sickness. A thing called natural selection. Not trying to be rude but it means the rabbit has developed a strength against that ailment and are strong...

    Makes Me Sick

I think it may have something to do with the weaning enteritis it went through as a kit. I almost lost it. I wonder if that affected "her" development.

    Britannia Petites vs. English Spots

The Brits at our fair are NUTS They act like someone mixed a mean Netherland Dwarf with a Checkered Giant.

    Makes Me Sick

So.. This nice doe I had decided that it wanted to grow a pair... Found out yesterday it is a buck with a split penis. *sigh* To crockpot camp you go. Makes me want to throw up. Out of two completely unrelated rabbits.

    Baby bunny head tilt?

It can also be caused by something as simply as water getting in the ear. Treatment can take months and even then they don't always come out of it.

It's posing as a bad mini lop

Do I see some foxy coated chins in the future. O.o That would be pretty. Maybe even a few chocolate chins.

    Cali Temperaments... Bunnies Gone Wild?!

I've seen that happen before with show line Cals. Put some in a pen and they never touch the cage floor cause they are too busy running around the sides of the cages. I like our old lines. Much more calm even if the does are a bitter bunch.

    Age of people showing rabbits

There are good people and crabby people as is in everything. Some breeds more than others. I know that those that show Mini Lops get along really well with eachother. We're a big ol family. I want to say something about Rex. Watch what colors you breed to what. Try to stick to one variety.
