    More bunny problems :(

I would go to war with rats! Rabbits are known to be susceptible to sudden death heart attacks when frightened. Rats could be the cause especially since you know one was actually attacked. It may just have taken awhile for the rat/rats to get bold enough to physically attack and at first they...

    Bad feed?!

For long term storage of grain products you want a better container. Feed bags just are no good for long term. I put all our feeds into 55 gallon plastic drums with locking lids.

    problem solving with Old Jack

If he is not sitting in his own pee, I would be looking for another cause. Have you looked for any skin infections that maybe are oozing? How are his glands next to his testicles, are they dry and clean? Plugged infected glands can make a yukky wet bun.

    Bad feed?!

1 yr old? Thats probably the problem. I wouldnt use any fee that old for any animals.

The state of Wi its 8 weeks for rabbits, cats and dogs. For us its state law and the info is in our state statutes found on the states web site.

Legal Requirements - number of animals you can own

We are ag here and our local area allows 1,500 pounds of live animal weight per acre. We have 3 acres. :) So thats a lot of bunnies!! LOL We have 4 sheep and 13 chickens and around 20 buns so we are far from our legal limits. So we dont have limits being in the country and zoned ag like you do...

thinking about building a rabbit cage

I wish we had a TS near us. All we have is Farm and Fleet. But they are ok too. I guess they have to be since we dont have a choice. :(

Daylength--to control or not to control

I have mine in a rabbitry that gets natural light but I keep a low watt CFL light on 24/7. Its pitch black in there at night and that makes the buns nervous. We have no outside lights or anything. Out here nights are black. They stay calm and happy with a low light on. I breed spring, fall...

    Help skinny rabbits

I assumed you didnt have angoras. I was pointing out that hay alone prevents wool block in angoras and it will work also with other buns that have a lot less risk than angoras. No need for mineral oil that can mess up digestion. Mineral oil isn't a oil from minerals. Its liquid petroleum, not a...

    Wooden hutches?

I was wondering opinions about wooden hutches. I personally dont like them for a few reasons. One, wood can not be sanitized 100% that really bugs me. The other is, here its damp and wood is prone to mildew and rot. I personally cringe when I see wooden hutches sold in stores as I know between...

    Diarhea Outbreak?

But wasnt that connected to a worm issue? Worms happens. Look at any livestock and you can find incidences of worm induced diarrhea. I dont see worms in rabbits in the north as much but it appears in climates that dont have the freezing long winters, worms cases are more common.<br /><br...

    Diarhea Outbreak?

But do you have outbreaks of diarrhea other than normal causes such as a worm load or an occasional hormonal doe?

    Buck attacks doe?!

Sounds like she just isnt ready even if her number age says so. He maybe can smell that in her. I would cage them side by side for awhile and try again.

    Diarhea Outbreak?

I dont get it myself. I have had rabbits for more years than I care to count and of many different breeds through all the years and I never had an outbreak. In fact diarrhea is very rare here. I also never feed fruit or veggy as buns are herbivores. I never feed anything from the grocery...

    Help skinny rabbits

I would stop the mineral oil too. That probably helps food run through without good digestion first. Wool block is easily prevented by just giving hay. I have been raising Angoras for many years and never had wool block and always give buns free choice hay.

    Clipping nails

Mine get clipped when ever they need it. Since they are angoras and handled a lot their nails are checked all the time. I use plain old human nail clippers. Rabbits dont have large, hard nails like a dog. They are soft and sideways flat enough for just people nail clippers. I just use the...

    help

Totally agree plus its just not your own reputation to worry about its also whats best for the rabbits as a whole. Its not good to put genetically bad rabbits out there for people to breed. The goal of a rabbit breeder should be to provide healthy, genetically sound rabbits. No one, not even the...

    help

What do you mean exactly? Is the lid not open or is there no eye? If the lid is just stuck closed I would apply warm compresses several times a day and see if it improves. If this bun has a defect I would cull as it may be congenital in nature and I wouldnt want to risk a possible messed up...
