Should I be worried about this?

Yep, I'll just keep an eye out for any further abnormalities. :) Thanks again.

Should I be worried about this?

Thanks all, sorry to be slow in posting an update. The doe seems to be entirely back to normal. No, there was never any odor that I noticed. I really do not think there's any possibility that she could have been bred again--my rabbits are all in separate cages, and none of them have escaped...

Should I be worried about this?

I have a NZW doe who kindled for the first time on September 3rd. The litter is happy and healthy, but two nights ago at feeding time I noticed that the doe was not eating and looked "languid." She was stretched out on her side and her belly was abnormally large and squishy. I thought maybe...

    What is causing this?

I've had lots of trouble with blossom end rot in the past, and my local nursery sold me a calcium supplement that you mix with water and spray right on the plant. It feeds through the leaves. It is called Maxi-cal and as I remember it was inexpensive. I actually don't remember if it...

    Safe to eat?

OK, I guess I need to learn my anatomy a little better--I didn't think the kits grew in that part of the uterus. It did feel like a kit though. I don't know why I didn't open it up to find out. I guess it's plenty safe to eat though, if that's all.

    Safe to eat?

I butchered a cull doe recently that was not having good success with litters. When I cleaned out the carcass I had a look at the uterus and found that one horn was three to four times the size of the other, and full of some kind of hard, almost bony substance. My sister looked at it and...

    Doe having trouble

Yeah, I think I'll cull her. I'm going to butcher some fryers tomorrow anyway. Thanks for the advice. :)

    Doe having trouble

Thanks, I'm just in from chores and I checked her records--she was bred to a different buck each time, so the problem is definitely with her. She is a pedigreed purebred...so I might try the calcium....but could it be a genetic problem? If so I'd better just cull her.

    Doe having trouble

I got a new NZW doe last fall, and have bred her three times now. Each time she has kindled, but had very small litters of dead kits, sometimes stretched out over several days. The kits look partially mutilated. Last time she had only one. I haven't had a doe who consistently had trouble...
