    Breed or Cull

I have a 4 year old doe who has these big lumps around 2 nipples. I'm guessing it's a loculated absess. It's been there since her last kindle about a year ago. Eats, drinks, poops, and behaves fine. Should I breed her and see what happens or just cull? Thanks

**** HELP! MOMMA Doesn't LOOK GOOD HELP! *****

It is what it is. I planned on keeping her since she had a litter and took good care of the Kits. It was beyond my control. In a better note, the remaining 5 kits seem to be feeding just fine. 4 more does are due in 5 days. I hope this was an isolated case.

I checked on her this morning at 6. The huge bundle of mint was gone. 6 hours later, she was in rigor. One of the kits which was a 1/4 the size of the rest died also under her not in rigor. I'm at work now and wish I could open her up. Think I'll just haver buried

I have momma and kits 3 varieties of mint I grow in my aquaponics. Kits and momma were eating it as of a couple hours ago. I'll cull her before she goes to the vet. Was hoping to help her through this but I'll most likely cull her for the weakness followed by th kits when they reach butcher...

**** HELP! MOMMA Doesn't LOOK GOOD HELP! *****

After thoroughly washing my hands, I petted some of the other adults in the rabbitry. Their ears were not red, nor warm and all were relaxed. Sick mommas ears are definitely HOT. I refelt her teats and 2 are engorged that extend laterally to the center of her belly. Took a video. I'll post...

New Zealand White had her first litter of 9 on the wire on August 20th. some fell through the side wire to the floor. 3 died within a few days. She took VERY good care of the kits until 2 days ago when she went off her feed. So today kits are 2 weeks and 5 days old. Their bellies have felt...

    Not so tender?

Rainey, So do you leave the rabbit in the fridge for 5-7 days before freezing to ensure rigor has passed? What is your butcher to cook storage process for tender rabbit meat? Luis

    How easy/difficult to make/implement a watering system?

Grumpy, That's sure a nice alternative for those without " city" water. It has some increased maintenance but can add ASV easily. I'm struggling to find a way to add ASV to my closed system. Ideas?

    How easy/difficult to make/implement a watering system?

I started with my rabbits using a water system. The first was fed from a bucket which I hated. The bucket would grow algae, get dirty, and a pia to clean at least weekly. Since the water flows via gravity, the bucket had to be higher and thus difficult to clean. I switched to a CLOSED system...

How to add ASV to a CLOSED watering system?

Ooohhhhh. I see. I'm not like that idea. I had the bucket head tank before and hated it. It was always dirty, grew algae and a pia to constantly deal with its cleanup. I switched to a pressure regulator after city directly to the rabbits and never looked back! I have valves at the end of the...

How to add ASV to a CLOSED watering system?

I'm not sure I understand. So you mean to put the tank AFTER the presure regulator and before the rabbits, like this: City-> presure regulator-> ASV TANK -> rabbits. Won't the tank over flow because of the constant flow from the pressure regulator? Thanks for replying.

How to add ASV to a CLOSED watering system?

I have a closed watering system. City water goes thru a pressure regulator then to the nipples. Is there a way to add ASV to a closed system like this? thanks

    BIG Lump On Doe Belly

On a side note: I built cages and moved all the adults from the large colony hutch into the cages. The next day she birthed one kit. This was a good size kit with fuzz and whiskers (which seemed odd), appeared to be older then a newborn. No nest built so it was dead when discovered (in the...

    BIG Lump On Doe Belly

I just noticed a big lump on the belly of this doe. There is a nipple on it. Don't know when she last kindled as I had them in a colony setup until 3 weeks ago. Now that all (4 DOES AND 1 BUCK) are caged up again, I've been able to actually touch and examine each one again. And this is what...
