    Rex cross breeding

So I'm in the process on breeding rex with some new zealands to get hopefully a faster growing rabbit with the rex fur. I have a few questions about breeding for certain things. So I have some rex bucks I'm breeding to NZ does. I'll then save fastest growing does to breed back to the rex...

    Probable ear mites. Help!!!

Do you just treat once? How do I know if it worked? Just keep an eye to make sure the scabs don't get worse?

    Probable ear mites. Help!!!

So never dealt with ear mites. I notices one of my tamuks with a little scab farther in her one ear. She also shakes her head more than the others. So I would like to do something natural for her. What should I use, should I treat other rabbits as a preventative, and what should i use to spray...

    Malnurished rabbit problem????

So there is a couple does that do have a larger stomach. I thought they could be pregnant but have not palpated them as they aren't super friendly and I want them to settle in. They aren't really eating a ton either. Not like they should. Not sure if eating that much grass is messing with there...

    Malnurished rabbit problem????

So I picked up some new Zealands the other day. They are very skinny and you can feel there backbone. They were pasture raised on the ground mainly eating just grass and fed some pellets. However I can tell they haven't been getting enough nutrition. I'm not raising them like that. I've heard...

    Standard rex sizes???

I'm new to raising rex rabbits and the kits seem kind of small (I raise new Zealand mostly). The 10 week old bucks vary just under 4.5 lbs. Is this a pretty standard size? Thanks

    Breeding for color

Will it always be random? Like albino new zealands or new Zealand reds, aren't they a specific color and only that color as long as they are bred to one of it's kind?

    Breeding for color

Does the kits color come more from the buck or doe? If I'm trying to come out with a certain color would I need a doe and buck of the same color, then would I come out with more of that same color? Thanks

Rabbit genetics and breeding to get desired quality?????

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm still not sure which of the kit crosses to keep then? If I just keep the fastest growing ones will they have the rex fur gene or only half of them have it?

Rabbit genetics and breeding to get desired quality?????

Rabbitsofthecreek, they are both meat rabbits and I have Time so I'm not worried about that. It was just a thought I had. I'm not one to give up because something may be hard or not really worth it. so when choosing which crosses to keep, do you pick the ones that have the closest combination...

Rabbit genetics and breeding to get desired quality?????

Thanks guys! So in the f3 crosses I should have what I am looking for? Or just keep breeding back to the rex buck until I do? Also if I did this with 2 sets and breed the f3 crosses from both sets could I end up with a standard? Or would I always end up with some of them slow growing or NZ fur?

Rabbit genetics and breeding to get desired quality?????

Hey guys I'm new here. I've bred New Zealands for about the past 10 hrs and recently got into standard rex for the fur quality. As many know they are slower growing. I had an idea and I'm not sure if it's possible or how to go about it... is it possible to breed a rex with something that...
