    Check Me Out!

If you think you or your almost 15 year old might want to show rabbits I would recommend starting with good show quality stock! But even if you don't want to show, show quality stock will be much better for meat since they are bred to the SOP.

@Chaos @TamiPac @NZ:Julia Did you guys try not giving them pellets? I fed my rabbits fodder and every single one loved it. If you take away their pellets then they should eat it. Some are just picky about trying new things!

Thank you! I really like how you wrote your info on homesteading meat rabbits! I have only been on facebook for few months because I am 16 and my parents don't like social media. The facebook page has grown my business tremendously. One of the things that really helps is being in local...

    I need help

I did decide not to vaccinate. I will cull if needed and wait it out! I will wait until they get better and keep offspring to replace sick ones.

    I need help

I could probably do it until I can replace all of the breeders. I have 4 satin breeders. The does aren't old enough to breed so I haven't had any satin babies. Only one of the does is not sick. What should I do because I still want to raise satins. The first sick buck is looking much better...

    I need help

I sell very often. I am about to make hundreds of dollars off of my 4 litters but one of the moms is getting sick so she could infect the babies! The vaccine is not expensive. I just don't know if I want all my breeders to have to have vaccinations.

How do you let them pick the rabbits? Just go in order? Do you have them pay a deposit?
  13. Her Farmstead Rabbitry

    I need help

I feel like I've been pretty good about keeping them separate and safe. But then I had a doe start to get sick and she had no exposure to a sick rabbit!. It's just been depressing.

What do you think about tattooing at 6 weeks?
  15. Her Farmstead Rabbitry

    Tattooing age

I am wanting to start tattooing the rabbits I plan to sell so I can keep track of who is buying which ones. I want to start selling them at 8 weeks instead of 6 weeks. I will still wean at 6 weeks. So is 6 weeks too early to tattoo? Also do any of you keep waiting lists? I am wanting to see how...

    I need help

Recently my rabbits came down with a respiratory illness. One just randomly started showing symptoms and pretty soon 1/3 of them have it. The buck that started out is looking much better. His appetite is back he I s not snotty but he is still a little raspy. I don't know if it is pasturella or...

    A sudden loss

I'm sorry for your loss! I hate it when the favorite ones die. I would disinfect the cages when swapping or even just routinely.

What breed of rabbits are you starting out with?

    Check Me Out!

I was super excited too! But I didn't make very smart first decisions. For example I bought young rabbits and by the time they were old enough to breed I discovered that they were both bucks! To be fair though I was a 14 year old making those decisions! Now I have 11 breeders, So it worked out...
