Questions for people who use a pellet pistol for dispatch please

I pressure canned in pint and a half jars for 90 minutes and I can't get over the texture so the dogs got it.

That wire looks big enough for snakes and rats to get in.

How long do you insti pot it to keep some texture? I pressure canned some and it gets mushy.

I really liked the turkey egg as well but I didn't like that I almost needed a man tool to get them open! 🤣

    Journey into quail

I'm not allergic to any eggs but if you give me a choice I will pick duck eggs every time. They're so much richer that any others.

I also feed oyster shell and mine eat it but....consumption goes down dramatically when they're moulting because they're not laying so they don't need the extra calcium. I don't think it matters what kind of supplement you feed as long as they're getting the calcium when laying.

    Journey into quail

I started out with the brooder inside the house but I kept getting really sick and couldn't figure out why until the neighbor pointed out during a coffee session that I seemed to only get sick when there were babies in the house. It was warm so I put them in the garage and the relief was almost...

It just depends on the bird as to how long it will take for them to start laying again. I've had some that didn't miss a beat and others that took up to 2 months. Moulting can reallt mess up egg production especially when coupled with a move. I have a set right now that stopped 3 weeks ago and...

They're little suicidal poo machines and they eat a ton.

I use game bird starter. I supplement with oyster shells. I feed everything else here organic but not the quail. I tried but the amount of food they go through made it impossible for me to continue.

    Ear mite healing concerns

I swear by Ivermectin! 1 drop and only 2 treatments and BAM! bunnies are comfortable and happy.

I feel your pain. I've never gotten more then a small portion of the shipped eggs I've bought. The mail ruins them.

    Ear mite healing concerns

I had a buck come to me like that. 1 drop of injectable Ivermectin in each ear. 6 days apart and only 2 doses and it was all gone. No problems since. Ivermectin is pretty innocuous as medicines go and I have used it on pregnant does if it was necessary.

    Journey into quail

Yep, me too. Some of my hens actually have a darker copper with just a couple of spots but if there's a spot it's pretty much gonna lay an egg. Maybe posters aren't the wild like I have though. I think they have white wings and I have never sexed those by feathers because I don't trust myself so...

    Incubating eggs

I pickle the eggs as well. I also make salted eggs for my asian hubby and they're so much easier to salt than chicken eggs. My kids bought me an electric quail egg peeler and I love it! It's so easy to do large batches. I also bought a used aquarium for the quail chicks but unfortunately I still...

    Incubating eggs

I cut the heads off. It's super quick and I'm sure they're dispatched, We do have super high humidity but inside during the hatches they're in the living room that is air conditioned and I also run a dehumidifier several hours a day. I don't know how people survived here in the past. :ROFLMAO:

    Incubating eggs

I hatch inside the house and brood in the garage. My brooder set up is not ideal to maintain heat. It's a rubbermaid tote that we have added 1/4" x 1/4" wire to the bottom of and put puppy pads underneath to catch the poo. For the first week I put down blue shop towels on the wire until their...
