    Astrex coated meat mutt project

Hahaha, you may be right! Alice fed them this evening so they are again little butterballs! :D Dem whiskers :in_love: (the super long strands are fur from the nest) I will say that a lot of Alice's whiskers have broken off so the curl actually weakened the strands. :|

    Astrex coated meat mutt project

You're probably right, I really think it must have been the lighting when I looked at them because I swear it was grey skin and the black kit had DARK grey. I've had broken black kits before and it really looked blue! However when I weighed them this morning it was pretty obvious it was going to...

    Astrex coated meat mutt project

I sure am! But at this point I'm just glad they are all alive and wiggly :in_love: Also, I thought it was a broken black kit and I just looked again, nope! It's a broken BLUE kit! :D I've never produced a blue before so I'm excited! I've had quite a few broken black so I just assumed "Oh, yeah...

    Astrex coated meat mutt project

Well it ended up raining off an on after that week that Alice went to town digging her den under that tree, so it's been filled with water ever since! Therefore she quickly lost interest with it. Also, I'm happy to note, she stopped being such a pill after the first few weeks of pregnancy. She...

    Definitions, nicknames, and abbreviations

Same here, I never call them red eyed whites because if you look at them they aren't really red to me, but light blueish, pinkish, rubyish color. :) I think its more fitting.

    The Haystache thread!!

Awe, Cheiri has such a beautiful green stache going on! I made the mistake of giving Alice her daily dandelion while she was staching and she went, "Thx.." and into the structure of her nest it went! Your rabbits are so cute. :3

    Could some help

I've heard that no matter what you do peanuts won't live to see adulthood. I think 12 weeks was as old as someone got one to live before it died... which is a REALLY long time for a peanut! However runts can definitely survive. :)

Little Pips - Injured, possibly very badly, possibly not.

Thank you all so much :group-hug2: It's so funny isn't it? I mean, these are meat rabbits, I raise them for food and yet... can't help but get attached to those furry little faces. I guess it's different when you quickly dispatch one to eat, versus them wasting away in front of you and then...

Little Pips - Injured, possibly very badly, possibly not.

So it is with a heavy heart that I let everyone know that Pips has passed on. He simply wasn't getting better and was ever so slowly losing weight. Yesterday he was at 11.2oz and I finally made the decision to cull him today. Last night he hopped onto my lap and I petted him for a long...

    Hand feeding newborn kits

Well I still have Della Rose, so we may occasionally get updates here about her. (Basically an update on what her final weight ends up being, as I feel it is pertinent information for this thread when formula fed since birth) But as of right now she's just a spaz who is at least double Pips...

facebook is starting to delete all for animal for sale adds

Hahaha, those are great! That reminds me of this advertisement I saw once  I suppose the way to sell rabbits in a similar fashion to the horse halter would be "Small bag of feed & small bag of hay for sale. Comes with rabbit. $40"

facebook is starting to delete all for animal for sale adds

Gosh that really blows Shazza! Though I'm glad you mentioned it here, I had a folder in my rabbitry FB about available bunnies (none were listed since the bottle babies went to their new homes) but I went ahead and removed that folder completely just in case. That's ridiculous. I did read online...

Astrex double mane lionhead *with pictures*

I'd second what SableSteel said, I am keeping an astrex coated bun personally (Alice) and hoping she'll produce more astrex, but she is short haired. I likely wouldn't have kept her if she had a longer coat as I wouldn't want the hassle of upkeep. I'd assume longhair and the astrex gene would be...

    HUGE decision to make...

WOW! That's quite a large difference from a week every few months! Yeah, heck no man. That's awesome! I'm so excited for you and it really sounds like the way started clearing up and becoming more one sided. A move like that is scary, but it certainly takes some of the hassle off when it's...

Wow! That certainly sounds interesting! I can't wait to see pictures! Sure going to look wacky when it molts out!

    The Haystache thread!!

I brought TWO big handfuls in there for her and I went back to check on her about an hour ago and her cage has been picked CLEAN. All the straw and the remaining hay from her holder are stuffed into her nest box  Oh, and I'm happy to say her hormones have settled down this last week, she's...

    The Haystache thread!!

Everyone has all these great hay-staching pictures and I've never been lucky enough to catch my buns at it... until this morning!! Day 24 of pregnancy and Alice is going stache crazy! I noticed half her hay feeder was empty (filled it up yesterday) and she had a mouthful of it taking it into her...

Processed rabbit, what is this on the liver?

How interesting, thanks BlueHaven! Glad you were able to catch it early with yourself! :O How scary!

    Testing for Snuffles.....

Oh no, I'm so sorry SarniaTricia. :( I'd be considering culling as well, don't want to take any chances with snuffles and since it is a respiratory illness... too much coincidence paired with the sneezing and now the rattle.
