New pet? I'd like some ideas

I like having litters indoors. My cat will reach in the indoor rabbit cage to catch babies but don't bother them when they reach 3 or 4 weeks old. So I keep the rabbit cage in a closed room. She eats dead babies without problem probably because she's a good mouser. She was born feral. I...

does anyone eat really young rabbits?

I think meat under 8 weeks are really tender. Of course it means much more time spent processing for the same amount of meat.

    making the nest

Make sure they are both female. I had 6 does in a large cage. One day I found a dead baby in the cage. Found out one of the 6 was a male. Weeks later found 2 more babies. Found another one was a male. Obviously I suck at sexing young rabbits.

    Will they become biters?

This is my first litter that I handled the kits twice daily for the first 3 weeks. Mother didn't make a nest so I took the kits and placed them in a box. I kept the mother indoors and brought the kits to her every morning and night. I didn't leave the kits in the cage because my cat would...

    House Help: Ramps???

In my experience ramps are useless because my rabbits just jump from level to level. Beautiful cage. Maybe you can try placing them on the second level to introduce them to the new cage. After a while they'll probably prefer the upper level.

    Enrichment in cages

Small empty cans and plastic pots get pushed and tossed around by my bunnies. They also put the smaller can into the bigger one.

    Is zoysia OK for rabbits?

I mow my lawn with an electric mower. A few hours afterwards the grass clippings on the lawn dried into a fine hay. I tried to google if zoysia is good for rabbits but didn't find anything.

Hope today will be the last upper 90's day.

Didn't lose any rabbit to cold or heat this year. The past winter was so cold so long that I loss all my 3 year old ginkgo seedlings. Had a very hot and wet summer but the rabbits were OK without extra measures because their cages are in the shade. Young mulberry bushes were able to grow...

    late summer litter questions

When I had singletons they developed into butterballs hardly able to move because they ate enough milk for 4 or 5 kits.
