Yep sorry she has 6 kits that's she is nursing.

    Best way to transport

We use these boxes that we found in our barn with a good bed of straw. According to the old French guy that sold us the rabbits they like to be snug in there, rather than bouncing around. That could be nonsense but he insisted that the litter mate does travelled in one together for a 90 minute...

How much do your rabbits like hay?

As our rabbits live in tractors on grass all year they rarely touch the hay. The order of preference is grass, green cabbage leaf (1 each daily), pellets and then hay. The grass has just held up enough for them this winter so day 1 it's grass and a cabbage leaf, day 2 grass, cabbage leaf and a...

    Breeding for temperament

This is probably me being a bit weird but I always wash my hands with an unscented soap before handling the bunnies or our new kits. I don't know if it's a factor but I don't want my fingers mistaken for a treat! And I don't want the mother to think her kits and yummy either!

    New from Alaska

Welcome, what sort of temperatures do you get in your part of the world? Also the amount of daylight you get at certain parts of the year might be a factor to consider.

    Which Buck To Keep?

Always go with your gut feeling, if you let him go you be wondering what if?

    KITS!!!

Yep I keep a calendar and a spreadsheet for forward planning. Then I'll review that after a year and see what went right and what went wrong and fiddle with the plan for the next year. I already have an idea when my breeding stock might retire and become cuddly old pet rabbits and the criteria...

    KITS!!!

Wow! They are lovely! Personally I'm going for 8 weeks which would give me 4 litters a year if we choose to breed right through the winter.

    Meat rabbit vs pet rabbit

These are our meat rabbits. Their indoor living space (the raised box on the end) is a yard long pet hutch. I would say anyone keeping a rabbit in one of those would be "giving inferior care". Just take a look around here and see how many people who keep meat rabbits are deeply invested in their...

    Breeding for temperament

I've read in quite a few places that you should cull out bad mother's and aggressive rabbits because these are not traits you want in your breeding line. My question is the opposite true? Can you breed in good traits like temperament? Or more so can you improve temperament through breeding or...

    New from Iowa

Welcome, I'm a first time Cali owner since last August. Like you I wanted to mix in NZ but you just can't get them here outside of full on commercial producers.

    Four litters due this weekend!

You know those tractors are a complete fluke that have turned into a god send. We bought the hutches because they fitted quite nicely in a shady part of the garden. Then we got the rabbits and immediately went "Oh no that's way too small!". So we added the runs on to each of them and moved them...

    Mystery plant!

I love the fact you guys think of these as a rarity when I spend the majority of my weeding time fighting the damn things back! The English make nettle wine out of them as well because they're English and wouldn't know a decent bottle of wine if it smacked them in the back of the head.

    Hi From Maryland

Hi Jo, by all accounts French Lops are meant to be super easy going but I'm sure someone else here knows more than me. I would really like one but I'll have to wait until I can convince my wife :) Let us know what you decide on.

First kindling anyone have any tips?

Well it's a nice tidy 6 all look healthy and happy. No peanut and the nest is immaculate, nothing to clean up at all. Better still her mood hasn't changed at all and she's her usual friendly self. Now we wait to see if she can look after them properly, fingers crossed.

First kindling anyone have any tips?

If all has gone to plan Pixie is due tomorrow. We've changed her usual sleeping area so that it now includes a 6" high "baby scraper". I finished mucking about with her tractor to avoid disturbing her unnecessarily and she's got a load of fresh straw to make a proper nest. Her tractor is due...

    Hello From Western New York

Welcome, the people here are really nice. I don't know what a satin is like so I expect after a bit of googling I'll be pestering the wife about yet another rabbit breed I want ☺️

    Injured Buck

Every day's a school day! He's cleaned himself up now and if I hadn't taken a picture I'd start to think I had imagined it. There's not a mark on him.

    Injured Buck

I'm really sorry I don't follow that, could you be a bit more descriptive please? If it was urine wouldn't it be yellow?
