    WHY?! 😫

She’s proven herself excellent in the past and has even fostered kits for me. She’s a great mom, so something must have happened or changed, that is what I’m asking. What else could it be.

    WHY?! 😫

We just had a doe kindle a litter of 12. One died OTW. Anyway, last night, they’re 3 days old, the doe ate ALL the hay out of the nest, scattering the remaining 11 babies everywhere without warmth in the night, killing them. WHY? I don’t get it. She is well fed, we’ve upped her feed for winter...

    Noisy breathing

She’s been fine ever since! I continued the oregano for a week past when symptoms stopped and they never came back once we stopped it. All the kits are super strong and healthy too. She’s my best doe, always pregnant with large litters, has Lots of milk and feeds well. She’s even fostered some...

    Renting Rabbits to Photographer

I wouldn’t be leaving them unattended or overnight. I would be there for the entire shoot and help in handling for a few hours. I’d never just give them to anyone to do as they please. That would be irresponsible. As for buying rabbits at Easter, it could really go either way. I think it could...

Does Anyone Have A Contract for Bunny Rentals?

I know this is an old thread, but was just thinking about the same thing. How much to charge, liability waivers, etc. Would you be able to share your outline with me, as well? Just to see what it entails and if I want to go ahead with this? Thanks!

    Renting Rabbits to Photographer

Strange question... Has anyone ever rented out their small bunnies to photographers for Easter photos? If so, what did you charge?

    I new at breeding

Never leave your doe and buck in the same cage unattended. They can end up fighting and she can even castrate him, then you wouldn’t be able to breed. Obviously, this depends on rabbit temperament, but I’d never risk leaving mine alone together. If they don’t breed within 30 mins, take out and...

    I new at breeding

Not late at all if you know when your rabbit kindles. Better than wasting a bunch of hay repeatedly because they just peed and pooped in it. Mine kindle day 31 and 32, they get their boxes day 28 or else they just soil it all instead of building a nest.

Rabbit Doe won’t let the buck breed her.

There’s a bunch of threads of here about receptivity. I had the same issue. Buck managed one fall off and somehow she had 8 babies. Lol! Anyway, I’d use the search bar and search of key words. I remember reading giving them ACV can help, a specific tea, some herbs, etc.

    Fostering and marking

No, this doe has plenty of milk, babies are always super full. This doe is also good with big litters. It’s own mother does not produce a lot of milk, we have to supplement her, and could be why the one died. It also won’t stay warm enough alone with our cold temps now. It has a better chance in...

    Fostering and marking

So we just had two litters born two days apart. One with 8 kits and healthy. One with only two kits, which is strange because it’s only the does second litter and the first one went without a hitch. Anyway, one of the two died. The other is still alive. Even though they are 4 days and 2 days...

    Receptive

Thank you. This is helpful. I think we will just wait and cross our fingers. Since this is the first time breeding after the heat of summer though, so it’s been a little while, and she wasn’t receptive, I’m not holding my breath. LOL Just disappointing if shes not pregnant because shes my one...

    Receptive

Could someone please point me in the direction of the thread that had natural ways to help make a doe receptive? I searched and can’t find it. Also, this doe that was not at all receptive, after some time, the buck finally got one fall off. What is the time frame, like number of hours, to try...

    Jerky

Thanks for the info! We will still eat this stuff, it’s overdone, but still edible. Trial and error i Guess. Next time I’ll try 170. today I had to leave I’m the evening too, so couldnt be watching it all night if it took too long.

    Jerky

My oven only goes as low as 170 and all the oven jerky recipes online and in this forum said 200-250F. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I will have to try a dehydrator or smoke it.

    Jerky

And how do you tell When it’s done? I think I over cooked my first batch 🤦🏼‍♀️ Oven recipes ranged from 1-8 hours so I was checking it every hour, and by 3 it was black and over cooked.

    Jerky

How long do you cook rabbit jerky in the oven? Obviously until it’s dry and done and that varies, LOL, but whats the ballpark park of hours for belly flaps you didn’t cut smaller? I’m only seeing recipes that cut them up online and so time would be shorter. Cooking at 225/250f.

    Its too hot

We get up to about 115F with the humidex here. I give frozen water bottles, refresh their water with cold water and add ice cubes. Also, ceramic tiles. We haven’t needed Much else. They are housed under a tree and shaded all day except for very early morning sunrise and late evening, but the...

    Rabbit ears...

We were not prepared for how much work the processing of litters was. Anyway, I have a bunch of rabbit ears I planned to dry for dog treats. I haven’t had a chance to wash and dry them, so they’ve been in the fridge for 5 days. Are they still good to dry? Or should I wait til the next time...

    Growout amount

It doesn’t really require lighting because there’s enough energy in the grain to sprout and grow for the short time it does. So, I’ve never specifically made sure it got sun or anything like that. Just the general light in the room is enough. That said, mine is set up near a window, but really...
